Florida Studio Theatre announces its 36th annual Richard and Betty Burdick New Play Reading Series, which will present three new staged readings by modern American playwrights. Part of FST's Sarasota Festival of New Plays, this three-day series will take place in Bowne's Lab Theatre on April 29, May 6, and May 13 at 3 PM each day. This series is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) and Kate Maguire (Artistic Director/CEO) are thrilled to announce Berkshire Theatre's 90th Anniversary Summer Season. In addition to a season cast announcement, an additional Unicorn Theatre production and BTG's No Boundaries in Art free staged reading series will be announced in the next several weeks.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 74th Rolling World Premiere (RWP): The Madres by Stephanie Alison Walker. The Roll will run through Skylight Theatre Company (March 10-April 29 in Los Angeles, CA) and Teatro Vista (April 21-May 27 in Chicago, IL), MOXIE Theatre (May 13-June 10, in San Diego, CA), and Shrewd Productions (August 24-September 15 in Austin, TX). The Madres was presented at NNPN's 2016 National Showcase of New Plays, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas-Austin.

Following the extended run of Rotterdam (5 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle award nominations) the Skylight Theatre Company is offering two World Premiere plays by female playwrights from Los Angeles, revealing the strength and resilience of women in the darkest of circumstances. The Madres by Stephanie Alison Walker opens March 10 and Hostage by Michelle Kholos Brooks opens May 19, 2018.

The Irvington Town Hall Theater (ITHT) is excited to announce the inaugural year of its ITHT Stage Door Playwright Festival on November 11 and 12. A weekend of readings of original and diverse one-act plays by a varied line-up of outstanding writers, the festival will be broken up into four sessions (two on Saturday and two on Sunday), with each session featuring different playwrights. This festival will be a springboard for playwrights to get their work up on its feet, and a chance for ITHT audiences to participate in the process by talking with the writers and other industry professionals during a Q&A at the end of each session.

Lautenberg, in association with NewYorkRep, announced today that Church & State, the critically acclaimed play by Jason Odell Williams, a 'BEST PLAY' nominee from the Off Broadway Alliance, will play its final performance Sunday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m. Directed by Markus Potter (Stalking the Bogeyman), Church & State is currently running at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues).  At the time of closing, Church & State will have played 29 previews and 81 regular performances.

Following last night's performance of CHURCH & STATE, there was a post-show talk back with Senator Chris Murphy (CT) and action-partner Sandy Hook Promise, the national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012. Church & State, the critically acclaimed play by Jason Odell Williams now playing at New World Stages (340 W. 50thStreet - between 8th & 9th Avenues) welcomed Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore (Still Alice) to the show last night, April 12th, where she participated in a post-performance talk-back on behalf of Everytown For Gun Safety, the nation's largest gun violence prevention organization, with Everytown President John Feinblatt.
