WET: A DACAMENTED JOURNEY Returns TO Skylight Theatre 4/5 Skylight Theatre Company Hosts "WET: A DACAmented Journey" Written and performed by Alex Alpharaoh Developed by Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA 8pm Thursday, April 5, 2018 Skylight Theatre, 1816 ½ North Vermont, Los Angeles, CA 90027

Alex Alpharaoh (Winner - 2017 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Solo Performance) will appear in his award-winning WET: A DACAmented Journey at 8pm, for one night only, at the Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 5, 2018. There is a new kind of American in search of the old dreams that may not exist in our country anymore. WET: A DACAmented Journey, is the story of what it means to be an American in every sense of the word except for one: on paper. It chronicles the story of Anner Cividanis' Journey of living his whole life in the United States as an undocumented American. The play captures the desperation that DREAMers feel when considering the very limited options of adjustment of status, by being forced to navigate through a broken U.S. Immigration System. It examines the mental, emotional, and psychological hardship one man has to endure in order to secure his livelihood in the only home he has ever known: Los Angeles.

Alex Alpharaoh is the creator of SP!T: Spoken Word Theatre, A series he originally developed at Urban Theatre Movement, where he is a founding member. His DON'T TALK ABOUT IT, SP!T ABOUT IT played at the Casa 0101 Theatre in the summer of 2016 and as part of Da Poetry Lounge's 1st Annual L.A. GET DOWN FESTIVAL this year.

Selected credits include URBAN UNREST, which won the 2017 Premiere Award, presented by Rogue Machine Theatre and several of his works have been produced at companies such as EST/LA, UTM, Antaeus Co., and Casa 0101 Theatre. He is a regular guest at spoken word venues such as Da Poetry Lounge, Sunday Jump, Washington D.C.'s Busboys and Poets, and New York's renowned Nuyorican Cafe. Alex is the recipient of the 2017 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for his Solo Performance in WET: A DACAmented Journey that was developed at EST/LA, originally workshopped through the Ensemble Studio Theatre Los Angeles series Winterfest, True Story, and Launchpad.

"Too often what is missing from our noisy immigration debate is the voice of the people whose daily lives are dictated by our broken system. Brought to the United States when he was only a few months old, Alex is one of millions of hard working, tax-paying dreamers who share the same fears that someone in Washington will send them "back," to a place that many have never seen before, with just a stroke of their pen. But, Alex has a pen of his own, and he possesses not only a powerful voice, but the courage to stand up and use it to tell a story that needs to be told. He deserves to be listened to" - Kevin Comartin; Director
