Will Forte Joins ROCK OF AGES Film as New Character 'Mitch Miley'

The Hollywood Reporter reveals today that SNL's Will Forte has joined the cast of the Rock of Ages film. The New York comedian and Celebrity Autobiography regular will be playing the part of news anchor Mitch Miley, specifically written for the film.

Fans of the 1998 film The Wedding Singer, which proved an unqualified hit for its stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, will relish seeing the quirky story revisited on the big stage of the Carpenter Center in Long Beach. In 2006 The Wedding Singer was turned into a Broadway musical with the identical Ridgefield, New Jersey characters, but with some alterations in plotline. What counts most is the upbeat 80s humor, which the stage version retains in spades, as well as unlimited heart. MTW (Musical Theatre West)'s regional premiere does the show proud under Larry Raben's dynamite direction and sporting a rollicking cast.

The five-time Tony Award nominated musical played its final performance at The Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Sunday, January 9, 2011. ROCK OF AGES' Levin Sues Movie Version Over Producers' Fees

New Line Cinema's film version of the smash hit Broadway musical 'Rock of Ages' has begun principal photography under the direction of Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'), and not everyone is thrilled about the big screen adaptation. According to Thewrap.com, Broadway producer Carl Levin from Eleven Entertainment claims that the movie owes him more than the $400,000 that was piad to him in producers' fees. Levin filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, July 6.

Evangeline Lilly, Barry Humphries Join Cast of THE HOBBIT

According to Deasline.com, Evangeline Lilly and Barry Humphries will join previously announced Sir Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett in 'The Hobbit.' Lord of the Rings director and Oscar winner Peter Jackson, who will direct the two-part film, wrote in a casting update:'Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character-the Woodland Elf, Tauriel. Her name means 'daughter of Mirkwood' and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing!.' He added, 'I'm also highly excited that Barry Humphries will be portraying the Goblin King, in much the way Andy Serkis created Gollum.'

Shayne Ward Joins Cast of West End ROCK OF AGES

ROCK OF AGES will play the West End's Shaftesbury Theatre in August, and X Factor winner Shayne Ward is the latest star to join the cast of the production. Ward will play Stacee Jaxx alongside previously announced Justin Lee Collins. The show begins performances August 31, with an opening date to be announced. Aditional casting has not yet been announced.
