mun2 Scores Five 2013 PREMIOS TU MUNDO Finalists

mun2, the leading cable network for Hispanic millennial adults, had five finalist nominations for the 2013 edition of 'Premios Tu Mundo” to be broadcast live on Thursday, August 15 at 8pm/7c from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida on the Telemundo Network. “Premios Tu Mundo” honors the best in pop culture, including telenovelas, music, movies and sports and are voted on by viewers.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FOR WATERTOWER THEATRE is a dynamic new group of early to mid-career professionals who take an active role in enhancing Dallas' cultural scene while furthering their knowledge of, and involvement with, the performing arts and the theatre. The group is run by a Steering Committee of its membership. YP4WTT President is Collin Duwe (Dallas Theater Center) and Melisa Stinson Ellis (Ellis Art Gallery).

Centenary Stage Presents WEST SIDE STORY, Now thru 8/11

It's been called one of the best and most beloved musicals of all time, the award-winning West Side Story now comes to the Centenary Stage. This timeless musical launched Stephen Sondheim's Broadway career and with help of other creative geniuses like Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein, it has become a classic in the American theatrical repertoire. The New Jersey Youth Theatre will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their award-winning production by bringing a new group of talented young-adult actors that Director Cynthia Meryl calls 'the future of Broadway' to the Lackland Center to showcase the phenomenal training that NJYT provides. Performances will take place August 2nd - 11th at the Sitnik Theatre in the David and Carol Lackland Center at 715 Grand Avenue in Hackettstown.

It is my pleasure to share some casting news regarding The Winslow Boy, directed by Lindsay Posner: Michael Cumpsty (Desmond Curry) and Alessandro Nivola (Sir Robert Morton) will join the previously announcedRoger Rees and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio in this Terence Rattigan classic.Zachary Booth, Spencer Davis Milford,Chandler Williams, Meredith Forlenza,Stephen Pilkington, and Henny Russell will round out the cast.

MEGA STAGE TUBE: AVENUE Q Celebrates 10th Anniversary!

Today in 2003 Avenue Q opened at the John Golden Theatre, where it ran for 2534 performances. Avenue Q was conceived by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, who wrote the music and lyrics. The book was written by Jeff Whitty and the show was directed by Jason Moore. Avenue Q is an 'autobiographical and biographical' coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirizing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. It opened Off-Broadway in March 2003, co-produced by The New Group and the Vineyard Theatre, and later won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and spawned Las Vegas and West End productions, two national tours, and a variety of international productions. Currently playing at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), today will be declared AVENUE Q DAY by the City of New York in honor of the show's 10th anniversary.

The Knights and Tenor Nicholas Phan Join Forces in New York and Chicago This Summer

The Knights resume their annual two-concert summer collaboration with Central Park's Naumburg Orchestral Concerts, now in their fifth consecutive season, with a program led by co-founder and artistic director Eric Jacobsen on July 30, featuring the world premiere of the innovative orchestra's own group composition Chaconne, and a collaboration with tenor Nicholas Phan. Recently hailed as a "major new Britten interpreter" by the New York Times, Phan joins The Knights and hornist Michael P. Atkinson to honor the Britten centennial with a rendition of the English composer's Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, which they will then reprise at Chicago's Ravinia Festival on September 3. This second collaboration is part of an extended Chicago-based Britten residency for Phan, beginning with the starring role in a Britten church parable, performed with soloists from the Chicago Symphony (Aug 17), then as Artistic Director of Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago's Britten-centenary themed 2013 Collaborative Works Festival(Sept 11-15), and culminating in a solo Britten recital with The University of Chicago Presents (Oct 18).

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola has announced that Fetch Clay, Make Man, written by Will Power and directed by Des McAnuff, will begin performances Friday, August 23 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is set for Thursday, September 12 at 7pm. Fetch Clay, Make Man is scheduled to run through Sunday, October 13; tickets are on sale now.
