MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced that Co-Artistic Director Robert LuPone will appear in the company's world premiere of Alexander Dinelaris' Still Life, directed by Will Frears for two performances only this Saturday, October 24 (2:00 & 8:00 p.m.).

Neil LaBute's Tony nominated REASONS TO BE PRETTY will make its Southeastern debut presented by GableStage and performed at the Biltmore in Miami. The cast features Amy Elane Anderson, Todd Allen Durkin, Erin Joy Schmidt, and Ricky Waugh. REASONS TO BE PRETTY opens on October 24th and runs though November 22nd.

The world premiere of Rajiv Joseph's (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) Gruesome Playground Injuries features Selma Blair (Hellboy, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Storytelling, Legally Blonde, NBC's Kath & Kim) playing Kayleen and Brad Fleischer (Center Theatre Group's premiere of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Broadway's Coram Boy, Off Broadway's Streamers) playing Doug.

Black Swan State Theatre Company launched its 2010 season at Canton Lounge Bar on Tuesday evening. Black Swan's Artistic Director, Kate Cherry, introduced Black Swan' season, themed 'Star Gazing 2010'. The invited guests were also addressed by playwright Hannie Rayson, whose new play, The Swimming Club, is one of the centerpieces of Black Swan's 2010 season.

The Rise and Fall of Little Voice is back in the West End in a new production to play a strictly limited engagement at the Vaudeville Theatre. The production opens tonight after running preview performances since October 8.

Eating Their Words, which weds New York's most innovative chefs with the voices of great American playwrights for unprecedented culinary and theatrical events, announces the exquisite menu for its upcoming Tocqueville Event at Tocqueville Restaurant, Monday October 19th, 7PM. Reinventing 'dinner theater' as an artistic collaboration between chef and playwrights, the diner experiences three short plays happening at the table next to them, voyeuristically overhearing a conversation (the short play) taking place over meal.

Theatre on Fire opens its fifth anniversary season at the Charlestown Working Theater with a BASH from October 2 - 17, 2009. BASH is a triptych of intense and mesmerizing one-acts depicting the dark heart of ordinary people, revealing the casual evil that surrounds us in everyday life.

MCC Theater has announced the line-up for their Fall 2009 PlayLab play readings of new plays by members of the company's Playwrights' Coalition Anton Dudley, Matthew Stephen Smith and Kara Manning to be held on October 26, November 2 and November 9. The three-week Monday night series will offer a special opportunity to experience works in development by some of New York's most exciting playwrights. Hailed a 'triumph' (Washington City Paper) in its world premiere at Washington, D.C.'s Studio Theatre this past spring, Stoop Stories comes to Chicago directed by Obie Award-winner Jo Bonney.

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company announced today the appointment of Julie Saltzman as Managing Director of Aurora Theatre Company; she replaces Susan G. Duncan, who left the company in April. Saltzman joins the company directly from Chicago, where she served as the Producing Director at American Theater Company (ATC). Prior to ATC, she served as Managing Director at Seanachai Theatre Company, and has also held positions as Associate Producer, Production Manager, Stage Manager, and Production Assistant at various theaters throughout Chicago, including Victory Gardens, Strawdog Theatre Company, and Eclipse Theatre Company, and at regional theaters including Colorado Shakespeare Festival and Utah Shakespearean Festival. Saltzman's official start date at the Aurora will be November 2.
