MCC Theater Announces That STILL LIFE Co-Artistic Director Robert LuPone Will Appear In Two Performances 10/24

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced that Co-Artistic Director Robert LuPone will appear in the company's world premiere of Alexander Dinelaris' Still Life, directed by Will Frears for two performances only this Saturday, October 24 (2:00 & 8:00 p.m.). LuPone will appear as ‘Theo,' the role usually played by fellow Sopranos' alumnus Dominic Chianese, stepping in for Mr. Chianese who has a previously scheduled engagement.

Robert LuPone began his career as a dancer. A graduate of Juilliard, he studied under Antony Tudor, Jose Limon and Martha Graham. As an actor, Mr. LuPone recently performed on Broadway in A Thousand Clowns, True West and A View from the Bridge. His numerous film and television appearances include recent parts in Comedy Central's new series "Stella," "Law & Order," The Door In the Floor and a recurring role as Dr. Cusamano in "The Sopranos." He won a Joseph Jefferson Award for his role as Crow in Tooth of the Crime, an Emmy nomination for his work on "All My Children" and a Tony nomination for his role as Zach in the original cast of A Chorus Line. Mr. LuPone is President of the Board for ART/NY and the Director of The New School for Drama.

Still Life features Dominic Chianese, Halley Feiffer, Ian Kahn, Adriane Lenox, Kelly McAndrew, Sarah Paulson, Matthew Rauch and Frederick Weller. Performances began at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 16 and continue through November 1, 2009.

In Still Life, photographer Carrie Ann inexplicably shuts down at the pinnacle of her career. Lost, and afraid to even pick up a camera, her sudden descent is interrupted by a whirlwind romance with Jeff, a trend analyst who becomes determined to help her move on, even while facing his own dark future. Two-time Drama Desk-nominated playwright Alexander Dinelaris (Red Dog Howls) is quickly being recognized as a stunning new voice in American theater. Film and theater director Will Frears (Omnium Gatherum) brings his discerning eye to this funny and heartbreaking play about a generation paralyzed by fear.

The creative team for Still Life includes David Korins (Scenic Design), Sarah J. Holden (Costume Design), David Weiner (Lighting Design), Fitz Patton (Sound Design) and Michael Friedman (Original Music).
