Yamaha Artist Services New York today announced that Monty Alexander, one of the all-time greatest jazz pianists, has joined the company's impressive roster of artists. 'As a longtime fan of Monty Alexander, I am delighted to officially welcome him to our family of Yamaha Artists,' said Bonnie Barrett, director of Yamaha Services.

The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm.  Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2017-18 Kumble Theater season with jazz singer/songwriter Alicia Olatuja. Drawing from a wide range of musical influence including classical, R&B, soul, and gospel, this Brooklyn resident brings her scintillating jazz stylings to Brooklyn's Kumble Theater, including a preview of selections from her yet-to-be-released second album, Intuition: Songs from the Minds of Women.

The Bickford Theatre presents the annual birthday bash for Hall of Fame guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli on Monday, January 8th. Bucky, who turns 92 on January 9th, has been at this annual birthday party every year with the exception of his 90th when he was in the hospital. He will bring an all-star ensemble with him including Martin Pizzarelli on bass, Ed Laub on guitar, Russ Kassoff on piano, Linus Wyrsch on sax, and Aaron Weinstein on violin.
