The Eye on India festival, a unique and colorful extravaganza of Indian culture, returns to Chicago June 5 - 29, 2014. The fourth annual festival honors the wealth of India's cultural heritage by showcasing the best of traditional and contemporary Indian art, literature, theater, film, music and dance. Programs will take place throughout the city and suburbs in venues including the Field Museum, The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, Chicago Temple, Chicago Cultural Center, Reva and David Logan Center at the University of Chicago, Old Town School of Folk Music, Evanston S.P.A.C.E. and the Chicago Park District.

Bobby Steggert and Frederick Weller Join Tyne Daly in MOTHERS AND SONS on Broadway

Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Tyne Daly in the upcoming Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, it was announced today. Weller will portray Cal Porter opposite Daly's Katharine Gerard. Steggert, currently seen on Broadway in Big Fish, reprises the role of Will Ogden which he created in an earlier production of the play at Bucks County Playhouse. Mothers and Sons marks Mr. McNally's 20th Broadway show, and will be directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall). It will play Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances have been set to begin Sunday, February 23, 2014, and the opening night has been announced for Monday, March 24, 2014. Mothers and Sons is produced on Broadway by Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, Paula Wagner & Debbie Bisno, and Barbara Freitag & Loraine Alterman Boyle. The impressive screen actor Bill Sage, who made his debut in the films of Hal Hartley, is starring in the acclaimed new horror thriller, We Are What We Are. On this occasion, Museum of the Moving Image presents Bill Sage: Then and Now, two special screenings on consecutive evenings, each followed by conversations with Sage and filmmakers:Simple Men (1992) with director Hal Hartley, co-star Robert Burke, and Sage in person on Monday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. and a preview screening of We Are What We Are (2013) with director Jim Mickle and Sage in person on Tuesday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. See below for descriptions and ticket information.

Elliot Goldenthal Honored by NYFA

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced that author and co-director of the Acquavella Gallery Michael Findlay, composer Elliot Goldenthal, filmmaker Mira Nair and visual artist Fred Wilson will be inducted into the NYFA Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 23rd at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). The evening begins at 6:30 with a cocktail reception featuring interactive art by past and current NYFA grantees, followed by dinner and remarks from all the honorees. Tickets start at $500 and tables at $5,000; tickets for the Young Patrons After party, which begins at 9:30, are $250. Tickets and tables at all levels can be purchased at www.nyfa.org.
