Billboard.com reports that a private funeral service was held yesterday, March 7th, for the late singer Davy Jones near his home in Florida.

According to People.com, Monkees lead singer Davy Jones, who died suddenly of a heart attack on February 29th at age 66 will be cremated. The musician's rep confirmed the cremation and shared that memorial plans for the entertainer have not yet been finalized.

On Friday, March 2, 2012, producer Ken Davenport (Godspell, Chinglish, Oleanna, You're Welcome America...) will present a private industry reading of the new musical 'GARAGE BAND' at a private location in midtown Manhattan. 'GARAGE BAND' features music by Mark Allen and book by The Grundleshotz.

Monkees band members and long-time friends Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz have responded to the sad news of singer Davy Jones passing yesterday at age 66. Jones suffered a heart attack in his hometown of Florida.
