Ballard Institute Opens Puppet Theaters of Blair Thomas & Company Today

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present the grand opening of Stages of Enchantment: The Puppet Theaters of Blair Thomas & Company today, October 25 at 4 p.m. at the Ballard Institute in Storrs Center. The opening events will include two performances of Thomas' celebrated show The Selfish Giant, at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Ballard Institute Theater; and be preceded on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. by Thomas' talk at the Fall Puppet Forum Series entitled Liminal Worlds: Design in the Puppet Theater.

The second weekend festival of literature, music and limin' returns to celebrate the vibrancy of the Caribbean and its love affair with London, curated by Melanie Abrahams, Ray Funk and Alexander D Great and running at The Tabernacle, London W11 this weekend, 25th and 26th October 2014, with events from noon until late.

Eighteen Musicians to Join Ensemble ACJW for Two-Year Fellowship Program

This season, a new group of eighteen musicians -- some of the finest professional players in the world -- will join Ensemble ACJW, a two-year fellowship program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. Ensemble ACJW is designed to prepare young professional musicians for careers that combine musical excellence with teaching, community engagement, advocacy, and leadership. It offers performance opportunities, year-long partnerships within New York City public schools, and intensive professional development.
