The Colony Theatre will present the third production of its 37th season of shows - the West Coast Premiere of SHOOTING STAR, written by Steven Dietz and directed by David Rose.

With sold-out houses in June & July, award-winning vocalist ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT will extend his run of CAST OF THOUSANDS: Gillett Sings Carnelia at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, yet again, with added performances on Wednesdays, September 14 & 21 & October 12 & 26.

The refined production of the new Rodgers and Hart musical, which Doyle first conceived at England's Watermill Theatre, marks the first time a new musical has ever been presented on WTF's Main Stage. This summer, the students in Site-Specific Directing at Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts (ESPA) have staged theatre all over New York City: from Shakespeare in Central Park to Chekhov on the Staten Island Ferry. The directors concluded their class this week by fully producing five new short plays in and under the High Line Park in Manhattan.

Tony Award winner Ben Vereen is traveling from Los Angeles to Houston, Texas today to be a special guest performer in The Musical Theatre of Houston's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Vereen will star as Pontius Pilate in a production directed and choreographed by Aaron Callies. The curtain rises for two shows August 19-20 at the Wortham Brown Theatre at 8:00pm both evenings and will include a cast of Sam Brown as Jesus, Jacqueline Grady as Mary Magdalene, and Tommie Harper as Judas.

Diamond, director Kenny Leon & producer Reuben Cannon were toasted on Martha's Vineyard in celebration of the Broadway premiere of Diamond's play STICK FLY, which is set in a Martha's Vineyard mansion. The event took place at the home of investment banker Valerie Mosley who co-hosts with entertainment lawyer Lisa E. Davis, former NASA astronaut and the first African American to walk on the moon Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr., former UN Ambassador Andrew Young, journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault and American human rights advocate Martin Luther King III.

Tony Award winner Dick Latessa and actresses Kate Jennings Grant and Brenda Pressley have joined the cast of Nicky Silver's play THE LYONS, being given its world-premiere this fall with previews beginning September 21 prior to an official opening night October 11 at Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.), it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre artistic director Douglas Aibel and co-artistic director Sarah Stern.
