Walnut Street Theatre to Present the US Premiere of LOVE STORY, Featuring Alexandra Silber

Walnut Street Theatre opens its 204th season with the American premiere of Erich Segal's LOVE STORY, the musical. With direction and musical staging by Annabel Bolton, the production is described as 'a delicate story of life and love' and begins previews on September 4th, opens on September 12th and runs through October 21st on the WST Mainstage.

Alan Ayckbourn Set to Direct SUGAR DADDIES at ACT This Fall

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre is pleased to announce the American premiere of lauded playwright Alan Ayckbourn's Sugar Daddies, directed by Ayckbourn himself, as one of the six mainstage selections in the 2013 Season. ACT Artistic Director Kurt Beattie invited Ayckbourn to direct during a meeting in 2011 in England. The opportunity to collaborate in person is the result of ACT's commitment to and success with Ayckbourn's work, which has engendered a lasting artistic relationship. Sugar Daddies is slated to be produced in September and October, 2013. The play will be staged in ACT's Allen Theatre, as productions in-the-round are Ayckbourn's specialty.

David Leonard will take over the role of Miss Trunchbull from today, 3 July 2012 and Annette McLaughlin will join the company as Mrs Wormwood from Tuesday 21 August 2012. They will play alongside Haley Flaherty and Steve Furst who have recently joined the Company as Miss Honey and Mr Wormwood. Bertie Carvel's last performance as Miss Trunchbull took place on Sunday 1 July and Josie Walker will perform as Mrs Wormwood for the last time on Sunday 19 August.
Matthew Warchus Drops Out of SLUMDOG Musical

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Downton Abbey's creator Julian Fellowes is currently in the process of writing the book for an upcoming musical version of the Oscar-winning 2008 film 'Slumdog Millionaire.' Though Ghost and Matitlda's Matthew Warchus was previously rumored to direct the project, the New York Post now writes that he is 'no longer in the mix.'
West End's GHOST to Close October 6

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Ghost The Musical will be closing at the Piccadilly Theatre to make way for Viva Forever, the Spice Girls musical. Now according to Whatsonstage, the show will take its final bow on October 6.

Theater For The New City has announced the American premiere production of Alberto Bassetti's TWO SISTERS, TWO BROTHERS, directed by Mark Schneider and Valentina Fratti. TWO SISTERS, TWO BROTHERS will play a limited engagement at Theater for the New City (155 First Avenue, btw. 9th/10th). Opening Night is tonight, June 9 (8 p.m.).
