BLUE MAN GROUP Comes to San Francisco May 24th - June 19th
by Linda Hodges
- May 18, 2011
On days when Kalen Allmandinger is feeling blue, it's actually a really great thing. In fact, he's required to be blue because he's part of the world renowned performance extravaganza known as Blue Man Group. This trio of bald, silent (think Charlie Chaplin on steroids), blue-latex-coated performers first took the world by storm in 1991 and hasn't stopped since. Created by Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton, Blue Man Group is set to appear at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre May 24 - June 19.

National Geographic Entertainment (NGE) has announced the acquisition of worldwide rights to the film 'Blue Man Group: Mind Blast' for distribution to giant-screen, digital and IMAX 3-D and 2-D theaters. The 3-D live-action comedy, slated for release in Spring 2011, will feature an original screenplay and score and will star the group's original cast members. 'Blue Man Group: Mind Blast' is the fourth major film acquisition for NGE this year, following the Sundance hit 'Amreeka,' opening in select cities throughout September; 'City of Life and Death,' which screened this week at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival; and 'The Wildest Dream,' which will be released in 2010 on IMAX and giant screens worldwide and on 35 mm screens in the United States.
Blue Man Group to be Made Into Feature Film?
by Faetra Petillo
- Sep 9, 2008
Variety is reporting that Blue Man Group has signed a contract with producer Charlotte Huggins to star in a film that will be released in Imax 3-D.
The original Blue Man stage trio of Matt Goldman, Chris Wink and Phil Stanton =will be featured in the film which set to start shooting in June of 2009 and aiming for a release of June 2010.
Variety reports that the movie will apparently not be the same as the original production (which currently plays in over a dozen cities worldwide). The movie will have different structure and new material specifically geared toward 3-D performance.
Matt Goldman said, ' 'It's going to have a story, believe it or not. It's going to have real science content, and we're excited about being in the neuroscience space.'
'We had a lot of ideas of things coming at you, splashing of paint, explosions of color,' he added. 'It's a complete mesh of everything that we love.'
