Asolo Repertory Theatre will open its 2013-2014 season with SHOW BOAT, based on the novel by Edna Ferber, music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. This winner of the 1994 Tony Award for best revival features a score of timeless classics, including 'Ol' Man River, 'Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man' and 'Make Believe.' Previews will be held November 12 - 14 and the show will run from November 15 - December 29. Opening night will be held on Friday, November 15 at 8pm.
Juilliard School Launches Kovner Fellowship Program

Joseph W. Polisi, President of The Juilliard School, today announced the creation of the Kovner Fellowship Program at Juilliard that will be endowed with a gift of $60 million - the largest single one-time gift to the School - from Bruce and Suzie Kovner, long-time supporters of the School. It's a new era for The Philly POPS and a chance for audiences to share in the excitement of this first season under the baton of new music director Michael Krajewski. The Philly POPS opens its 2013-14 season with the theme 'Viva Philadelphia!' - a celebration of the City and of Philadelphia's Italian spirit as well as a demonstration of the maestro's special love for vocal music. It's a fitting theme, as the new maestro celebrates the City that will be another POPS home for this nationally recognized conductor. It's also fitting as this first series of The POPS 35th season falls on Columbus weekend, a time of special significance in a city with a rich Italian heritage. With performances tonight, October 11 through Sunday October 13, POPS concerts will continue to be presented in a series of Friday evenings at 8 p.m., followed by Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. at Verizon Hall of the KimMel Center for the Performing Arts on Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly kicks off his 11th Pops season with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in The Streisand Songbook with Ann Hampton Callaway tonight, October 10 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and Sunday, October 13 at 3 p.m. at the Meyerhoff. Singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway will sing some of Barbra Streisand's biggest hits, including favorites from Broadway musicals as Funny Girl to film hits such as A Star is Born. Tramm, Artistic Director and principal conductor of the MidAtlantic Opera will lead members of the Annapolis Chamber Chorale in a concert of classical choral music Sunday October 13, 2013 at the Chapel at Charlestown Village, Maryland. An industry reading of Neurosis: A New Musical will be presented October 24-25 at Ripley-Grier Studios.
Neurosis features a book by Allan Rice, music by Ben Green, and lyrics by Greg Edwards. Rice has written for television shows including "The New Adventures of Old Christine" on CBS and the upcoming Kelsey Grammer-Martin Lawrence Project on FX. Green is a veteran of Hasty Pudding Theatricals and a frequent orchestrator for Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers, Sarah Plain and Tall). Edwards, a two-time finalist for the Fred Ebb Award, has collaborated with Marvin Hamlisch and Arthur Laurents.
