Tonight, at a celebration honoring outstanding theatre on stages across the Washington area, theatre artists, administrators, patrons, and special guests gathered at the ATLAS Performing Arts Center for Theatre Washington's announcement of nominees for the 40th Helen Hayes Awards.

What did our critic think of THE SEAFARER at Round House Theatre? Five fine actors give excellent performances in Ryan Rilette's solid production of The Seafarer through December 31.

The Trip to Bountiful at Ford's Theatre is an incredible showcase for Nancy Robinette, one of Washington’s foremost actors, who skillfully drives the production as Mrs. Carrie Watts who yearns to leave the small Houston apartment of her son and daughter-in-law to return to her Texas homeland, Bountiful.

Today's subject Kimberly Schraf is currently living her theatre life at Ford's Theatre portraying one of the best known female roles in the American Theatre. Not only does Kimberly give a superb performance as Linda Loman in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, she does so with Craig Wallace as Willy Loman. Wallece is her partner in life as well as onstage. Her once-in-a-lifetime performance can be seen through October 22nd.

Aurora Theatre Works, Inc., presents the world premiere of Thomas H. Geoghegan's Monticello, directed by Anthony Irons. Based on historical fact, Monticello is a fictional examination of what happens when the country's founding father and freedom architect realizes that the whole republican experiment - America - might have turned out to be a mistake.

Drury Lane Theatre continues its 2016-2017 season with Ira Levin's popular murder mystery, Deathtrap, directed by Artistic Director William Osetek. Deathtrap runs June 9 - August 14, 2016 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The Press Opening is Thursday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m.

Fool for Love, by renowned playwright Sam Shepard, launches Round House Theatre's 2014/2015 season with an explosive tale of love, hate, and the dying myths of the Old West. Producing Artistic Director Ryan Rilette directs one of the great American plays of the 20th century. Fool for Love runs at Round House Theatre from today, September 3 thru September 27. Opening night is Monday, September 8, 2014.

Religion and science collide in playwright Catherine Trieschmann's How the World Began, a visceral examination of the way in which we navigate interpersonal relationships involving seemingly irreconcilable beliefs - and just how hard it is to truly listen to one another in an increasingly polarized world. How the World Began runs in the Stiemke Studio from January 16 - February 24, and opens tonight, January 18.
