The Resident Acting Company (www.racnyc.org), a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'It Is So (If You Think So)' by Luigi Pirandello on Monday, November 19 at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South. The reading is the final installment of the troupe's 'The Language Series,' which is devoted to plays that delve into the use of words to lie, deceive, manipulate, conquer, tell the truth, work out the meaning of life and even to find love.

BANNED FROM BASEBALL, the first play written by Patricia O'Hara, is making its world premiere at the Human Race.  Seems fitting to be so close to the original action. O'Hara is not only a writer but also a Professor of English Literature at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where she teaches a course titled, not surprisingly, Baseball in American Literature and Culture.  I really liked how she was able to tell this story and keep the audience interested, even though, at least the majority of us, knew how the story ended. The play was nuanced in a way that helped you see into the minds and hearts of the major players, Pete Rose and Bart Giamatti, the Baseball Commissioner.  Excellent casting brought this all to life.

Like clockwork each Fall, the discussions around the Baseball Hall of Fame inductees begin. At the same time, the petitions to reconsider Pete Rose for the Hall of Fame resurface. It's one of the most hotly debated topics in sports history. This September, The Human Race Theatre Company takes us back to 1989, when the battle for the soul of Major League Baseball hit its peak as Commissioner Bart Giamatti and Pete Rose, the reigning Hit King, lock horns in the world premiere performance of Banned from Baseball, by Patricia O'Hara.

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to present the world premiere of EDUCATION, written by Brian Dykstra and directed Margarett Perry. Produced by Sanguine Theatre Company, EDUCATION begins performances on Friday, March 9 for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 8. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:15 PM; Saturday at 2:15 PM & 7:15 PM; Sunday at 2:15 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Composer Ray Leslee (Standup Shakespeare, Avenue X) and playwright, actor, HBO Def Poet, Brian Dykstra, have teamed up with Musical Director Kimberly Grigsby (Amelie, Spiderman, Spring Awakening) to present a workshop presentation of a new musical based on the comedy by Moliere. The script-in-hand readings will take place Thursday Nov 16th at The Lark Play Development Center and Friday, November 17th at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios. The presentation will be directed by Margarett Perry.

Chasing Jack is the new riveting drama from author John S. Anastasi, previously represented Off-Broadway with Would You Still Love Me If starring Kathleen Turner. Audience members can sit in the General Courtroom Gallery for $20 or be closer in the Jury Box for $25 and be part of the action!

Patricia O' Hara's play Banned from Baseball, directed by Margarett Perry, will get an invite-only, industry presentation on July 17 at 3pm & 7pm a Theatre Row's Studio Theatre (410 West 42nd Street).

HSC proudly announces the June 30th staged reading of  BOOKS THAT DID NOT HELP ME PICK UP WOMEN by John McCaffrey and Mark Singer and directed by Margarett Perry.   

Kitchen Theatre Company's Board of Directors honored retiring Artistic Director Rachel Lampert with an appropriately theatrical ceremony in which the building's mortgage was 'burned.' In attendance were community members and representatives of organizations who donated to the over $190,000 Burn the Mortgage campaign.

Kitchen Theatre Company concludes its 2016-17 season with an encore production of Brian Dykstra's Clean Alternatives, a play about corporate bullying, environmental politics, and standing up for one's beliefs-with a little slam poetry and Zen Buddhism thrown into the mix.
