Blank Theatre to Premiere Michael John LaChiusa Play SUKIE & SUE: THEIR STORY; Lindsey Broad, Mackenzie Phillips Lead Cast

Casting is complete and rehearsals have begun for The Blank Theatre's world premiere production of Sukie & Sue: Their Story by Michael John LaChiusa, directed by Kirsten Sanderson. Developed last year in The Blank's Living Room Series, Sukie & Sue: Their Story is the only play ever written by LaChiusa, who has received five Tony Award nominations for his musicals.

TV Land announced today that the beloved casts of 'Laverne & Shirley' (Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, Michael McKean and David L. Lander) and 'One Day At A Time' (Valerie Bertinelli, Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips, Glenn Scarpelli and Pat Harrington Jr.) as well as pop culture phenomenon 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' will be honored at the 'TV Land Awards' 10th Anniversary celebration. The star-studded awards show, which honors classic television, film and music icons, will be held at the Lexington Avenue Armory at Gramercy Park on Saturday, April 14th and air on Sunday, April 29th at 9pm ET/PT. More honorees will be announced in coming weeks. They join previously announced honoree Aretha Franklin (Music Icon Award) and second-time host Kelly Ripa for the special decade ceremony.

Add to that two up and coming local powerhouses, Derek Hansen and Kirsten deLohr Helland in the leads of Sid, the pajama factory's new foreman and Babe, the union leader who's just looking for another seven and a half cents an hour and there's bound to be some "Steam Heat" with this show. I recently sat down with director Hughes and choreographer Turpin to take a look as their careers, lives and of course how it is playing 'The Pajama Game'.
