Tomorrow, August 5, 2017, The Pilot Dance Project will present six performances of REQUIEM, a forty-five minute modern, site-specific dance work from Jennifer Mabus. Using the landmark Morales Funeral Home, Houston's first Hispanic-owned funeral home, Mabus will immerse audiences in the communal rituals of grief and mourning. Garson Kanin's BORN YESTERDAY premiered on Broadway in 1946, and seventy years later it still entertains and gently enlightens. Regardless of the time period, the play is far more relevant than you'd think. Directed by Jonathan Moscone, the play is about wealth, political corruption, education and opportunity. As we drag along into the current presidential election, there is plenty to say on these topics, and evidently Kanin felt the same way back in the forties.

THE NETHER is a chilling tale about how the division between technology and our lives begin to blur, and the ethical consequences that result when access to this technology fall into the wrong hands. Engaging performances from an all-star cast, unique character development, notable set and lighting designs, and intricate storytelling had me on the edge of my seat for its 85 minute run time.
