Inspired by true events, A City of Refuge from Primitive Grace Theatre Ensemble brings the audience squarely to church, a haven-as-melting-pot that reaches its boiling point and beyond. As a motley crew of community members collectively tries to absorb the shockwaves of what's happening outside (the Washington Heights riots), they must individually bear witness to each other, as well as to their own fears, biases, and the need for personal strength amidst relentless violence, shared vulnerability, and dwindling resources.

Casting is now complete for the world premiere of A City of Refuge, written and directed by Evan Cuyler-Louison. The Primitive Grace Theatre Ensemble (Paul Calderon and David Zayas, Co-Founding Artistic Directors) production, set at the peak of the often-overlooked Washington Heights riots of 1992, will play The Center at West Park (165 W. 86th Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam) for a limited engagement from December 4-22. Over 25 years after the often-overlooked Washington Heights riots of 1992, Primitive Grace Theatre Ensemble (Paul Calderon and David Zayas, Co-Founding Artistic Directors) will stage a portrait of the neighborhood at a breaking point in A City of Refuge. Evan Cuyler-Louison's site-specific new play, set in a deconsecrated sanctuary as the church prepares to close its doors, will play the church-turned-performance space The Center at West Park (165 W. 86th Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam) for a limited engagement from December 4-22.

celebration of its 20th Season, Frog & Peach Theatre Company has announced their fall production, William Shakespeare's most deranged tragedy TITUS ANDRONICUS which will star TV and Broadway actor Greg Mullavey (TV: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Nickelodeon's iCarly; Broadway: Romantic Comedy opposite Mia Farrow, Neil Simon's Rumors; and The Soap Myth with Roundabout Theater Company). The production will run from October 9 - November 2 at The West End Theatre (263 W 86th St).
