Roundabout Theatre Company announced the full cast this July for the new Broadway production of Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Back by popular demand to the Broadway at Birdland concert series, William Blake performed an encore of his show "Echoes of Etta," a musical tribute to Etta James, on Monday, August 20th. Harry Melling, best known for playing Dudley Dursley in five of the Harry Potter films, is to play Christopher Isherwood in I am a Camera, which will run in a three-week season at The Vault at Southwark Playhouse, in London from Wednesday September 5 - Saturday September 22. Gray Line New York, New York City's premier sightseeing and tourism company, today, August 22, 2012, honored stage and screen icons, and Broadway Barks co-founders, Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore by welcoming them into the Ride of Fame campaign. Peters, who was on-site to receive this honor, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the custom decal featuring her and Moore's likenesses on the front of one of Gray Line New York's iconic double-decker buses. Gray Line New York, New York City's premiere double-decker bus and motorcoach tourism company, has announced that Television and Broadway icons Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, as well as co-founders of Broadway Barks, an organization whose mission is to help shelter animals find permanent homes in NYC, produced by Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, will be inducted into the Ride of Fame. A ribbon-cutting ceremony where a custom decal will be unveiled on the front of the vehicle displaying their likenesses, also incorporating a special edition poster designed by the legendary Bob Mackie, for this year's 14th annual Broadway Barks, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event, which the two actresses recently co-hosted. Ms. Peters will be on hand for the unveiling today, August 21st, 12 noon on PIer 78 at 455 12th Avenue at 38th Street.

On Wednesday, September 5 at 7:30pm at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place), dance icon Mikhail Baryshnikov will be honored at the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation's "Bright Lights Shining Stars" Gala where he will receive their prestigious Ambassador for the Arts Award which will be presented to him by longtime friend and colleague Liza Minnelli. Last year's Ambassador for the Arts Award recipient, celebrated American singer, songwriter, musician and four-time Grammy-winner Roberta Flack, will also be present on 9/5. Actor/singer Cortes Alexander debuted his delightful Swell Party at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal on Monday August 13. What a uniquely fun evening of anecdote and song! Alexander worked with Liza Minnelli in Liza at the Palace, but she met him years before when his group The Tonics had a regular gig in NYC.

So many cabaret shows, so little time . . . to write reviews that is. During his almost two years as a cabaret reviewer, BroadwayWorld.com critic Stephen Hanks managed to do a pretty good job of writing critiques during a show's run or soon after the run ended. But this summer he just couldn't keep up. Finally, here are observations on 10 performances over the past two months.
