Daniel Nardicio will present a special show by Justin Sayre, host of The Meeting* at the Ice Palace as part of the Icon Series (also featured this summer have been Liza Minnelli, Sandra Bernhard, Margaret Cho and more) on Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 PM.

According to Time Out New York, "The Meeting* has become a cult hit among a young, festive and culturally aware crowd. Sayre is an avatar of modern-retro cultivation." The monthly gathering of the I.O.S. (International Order of Sodomites) - is a gay romp through politics (sexual and otherwise), social news, music, comedy skits, and other important life-changing information. Justin Sayre and The Meeting* were named one of the Top 10 nightclub shows of 2011 by Time Out New York, received the 2012 Bistro Award for "Comedy Artistry" and a 2011 MAC Award nomination for Best Male Comedy Performance.

The special show will celebrate the magic of Fire Island itself, the land of sea, sex and sun. Downtown diva Molly Pope will be the show's special guest with other names to be announced. Brandon James Gwinn serves as Musical Director.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre operates under the myth of the "gay agenda" and is structured as any organizational meeting for homosexuals would be - business of the day, upcoming events and social issues are discussed, ridiculed, and interwoven between comedy sketches, musical numbers, and other "homo-hijinks." In addition to writing the show, Justin serves as the Chairman of the I.O.S., the centuries-old secret organization of homosexuals and their friends.

He says, "I wanted a show where we could have a good laugh at ourselves, while getting some information out there. The Internet is great and easy to create a virtual community, but I think so much more is done in person, face to face. Plus if you can get a laugh, well
that's just heaven."

Past "agenda items" have addressed current issues such as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in "Serving In Silence: The Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Story," the continuing romantic saga of gay penguins at the San Francisco Zoo, and a guide to the so-called "Gay Panic" defense. The monthly events have featured popular guest stars such as Lea DeLaria, Christian Campbell, Frank DeCaro, Lady Rizo, Tituss Burgess, Natalie Joy Johnson, Kenny Mellman, Randy Rainbow, Maude Maggart, Jack Ferver, Murray Hill, Jeffery Self and Cole Escola, Molly Pope, Steve Hayes, Bridget Everett, Poor Baby Bree and more.

On June 18, 2012, The Meeting* presented their second-annual Night of A Thousand Judys concert at Playwrights Horizons, honoring the iconic entertainer Judy Garland. The all-star evening was a benefit for The Ali Forney Center - the nation's largest organization dedicated to serving homeless LGBT youth - and starred Tonya Pinkins, Michael Musto, Nellie McKay, Karen Akers, Daniel Reichard, Ashley Brown and more. The June 2011 edition at Joe's Pub featured performances by Jackie Hoffman, Daisy Egan, Paul Iacono, Gay Marshall, Jeff Hiller, Emily Bergl, Ryan O'Connor, among others.

Yale University presented a special edition of The Meeting* in April 2011 as part of their Pride Month. The new website, www.InternationalOrderofSodomites.com, was recently launched with podcasts, videos, blogs and more.

Justin Sayre demonstrated a supernatural instinct for "camp" at an early age. Justin is a child of Forty Fort, Pennsylvania who moved to New York believing it was still 1947. He was terribly misinformed. As an actor, he has worked and studied with some of the finest professionals in New York. As a gay, Justin has excelled at scarf placement, devilish quips, and a healthy but firm love of the American musical. He has also performed at Comix, "Our Hit Parade" at Joe's Pub. Justin contributed a story about Justin VivIan Bond for Radical Faerie Digest - one of the oldest gay publications in the country. In 2011, two of his short plays were presented by the "Fame and Shame on the LES" performance series. A collection of his short plays, "Justin Sayre Is Alive and Well... Writing" - called one of the "Top 10
Events on the New York Stage" by the New York Daily News - sold out two shows at Ars Nova in April. In June, Justin co-wrote and narrated a new adaptation of Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale" for the Greenwich Music Festival, which was called "a thought-provoking, atmospheric performance" by Greenwich Time. In September, he will host a special centennial event to celebrate Harry Hay, co-founder of the Mattachine Society, at New York's Center for Gay and Lesbian Studies.

Molly Pope is a critically acclaimed concert artist and actress whose shows have played Joe's Pub, Feinstein's, The Adelaide Cabaret Festival (Australia), Ars Nova, and the Laurie Beechman Theater. Named a Village Voice Best of NYC 2011 for "Best Singer To Turn Life Into A Cabaret", she has performed in the hit long-running countdown show, "Our Hit Parade", at Joe's Pub over 30 times and is a frequent guest at the The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre. She was also listed as one of the "Top Ten Downtown Divas Every Gay Man Should Know & Be Obsessed With" by Time Out New York. On stage she recently appeared as Ruth Sherwood in Wonderful Town (Gallery Players) and in Dan Fishback's new musical, The Material World, headlining the HOT Festival at Dixon Place. Other stage roles include Colleen/Sanchez/Sequins in "Bromance: The Dudesical" (Caroline's on Broadway, 92Y Tribeca), Maria in "Twelfth Night: The Drinking Game" (Legitimate Theater Co) and Fran in the tour of "Swing For Victory" (Lively Arts). On camera work includes "Law & Order: SVU," Secrets of the Mystic Oracle, Hunting and Evie's Big Break (both at Big Apple Film Festival). Molly is currently developing her debut solo CD. www.mollypope.com.

Daniel Nardicio's Icon Series will present Justin Sayre on Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 PM at The Ice Palace in Cherry Grove on Fire Island (37 Bayview Walk, Cherry Grove, NY 11782). Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com. The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre is produced by Adam J. Rosen and Dan Fortune.
