STAGE TUBE: Sneak Peek of O'Hare, Spinella in AN ILIAD

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo present the New York premiere of An Iliad, by Denis O'Hare and Lisa Peterson, based on Homer's Iliad translated by Robert Fagles, directed by Ms. Peterson. Performances began on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Mr. O'Hare and Stephen Spinella will alternate performances of the play. Opening nights are Tuesday, March 6, 2012 (Mr. O'Hare) and Wednesday, March 7, 2012 (Mr. Spinella). Check out a preview below!

Native Voices at the Autry Presents WALKING ON TURTLE ISLAND & GHOSTLANDS OF AN URBAN NDN, 3/1 - 3/18

Native Voices at the Autry, the country's only Equity theatre company dedicated exclusively to presenting and developing the work of Native American playwrights, presents two full-length, one-man plays, WALKING ON TURTLE ISLAND and GHOSTLANDS OF AN URBAN NDN, written by and starring acclaimed actor and storyteller ROBERT OWENS-GREYGRASS (Lakota*) in repertory from March 3 to 18, 2012 (previews begin March 1), at the Autry National Center's Wells Fargo Theater in Los Angeles. In the two vastly different works, which showcase his wit and humor, Greygrass portrays an astonishing 38 characters. Kevin Sifuentes (Hopi*) directs both productions. Randy Reinholz (Choctaw*) is Native Voices' Producing Artistic Director, and Jean Bruce Scott is Producing Executive Director.

The Hangar Theatre's Pilot Reading Series in NYC continues into 2012 with a reading of The Drama Department, a new play by James Hindman. The reading is Monday, January 30th at 7.30pm at The Black Box Theatre on Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th and 10th Avenue). The reading will be directed by Peter Flynn, the Hangar's Artistic Director.

On the heels of the explosive A Streetcar Named Desire, the Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for Tennessee Williams' drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic about a Southern family in crisis receives its second-ever Guthrie staging. Last produced at the Guthrie in 1976 under the artistic leadership of Michael Langham, this production will play from January 14- February 26, 2012, on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. Lisa Peterson (Major Barbara, Oedipus and Mrs. Warren's Profession) will direct.

La Jolla Playhouse announces two more productions for its 2012/13 season: An Iliad, a one-man adaptation of Homer's classic tale, adapted by Lisa Peterson (Surf Report, Be Aggressive) and Denis O'Hare (Take Me Out), from a translation by Robert Fagles, directed by Lisa Peterson. The production will run June 19 - July 15, 2012 in the Mandell Weiss Forum. The Playhouse will also present David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-winning Glengarry Glen Ross, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, running February 2 - March 3, 2013 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.
