A carnival midway of magic, mischief and theatrical thrills! Amanda Dehnert, celebrated throughout the American theatre for re-imagining classics, has added a multitude of visual delights and fantastical illusions to the original charm and beautiful ballads (like the haunting "Try to Remember") of The Fantasticks. When two scheming fathers conspire with the mysterious El Gallo to keep their daughter and son apart (to be sure they'll fall in love!) the dewy-eyed lovers venture into the real world. But as fantasy turns to reality, El Gallo is there to remind them that "without the hurt, the heart is hollow" in one of the most popular musicals of all time, which the Washington Postcalls, "Fresh and alive again."

The Walt Disney Family Museum presents the exhibition 'Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole.' Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, will present a new production of Bertolt Brecht's The Caucasian Chalk Circle featuring Christopher Lloyd (Azdak), directed by Brian Kulick (who directed Brecht's Galileo last season), and featuring new music by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening). The Caucasian Chalk Circle will begin performances tonight, May 3 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 9. The official opening is Thursday, May 30.

Berkeley Playhouse presents its next KidStage production, DISNEY'S ALICE IN WONDERLAND JR. Based on the 1951 Disney film "Alice in Wonderland," and the novels "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll, this madcap musical follows young Alice down the rabbit hole into a wonderland of adventure as she chases the White Rabbit, races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with the Tweedles, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar, goes to the craziest tea party ever, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game. Featuring familiar songs from the original animated Disney classic, including "The Unbirthday Song," "I'm Late," and "Painting the Roses Red," along with additional sing-along gems like "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," ALICE IN WONDERLAND JR. is a musical feast for the entire family.

Third Rail Projects Continues Open-Ended Run of THEN SHE FELL

A new block of tickets for September performances has just been put on sale for Third Rail Projects critically acclaimed production of THEN SHE FELL. This immersive theater event is inspired by the life and writings of Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland). It is written, directed, designed and choreographed by Zach Morris with Tom Pearson and Jennine Willett and in collaboration with The Company. Performances of this open-ended run take place at The Kingsland Ward at St. Johns, a century-old institutional building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that allows the action to play out on 3 floors.

Strawdog Theatre Company concludes their 25th anniversary season with Big Love by Charles L. Mee, directed by Strawdog Artistic Associate Matt Hawkins, April 18 - May 25, at the Strawdog Theatre, 3829 North Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Thursday, April 18,, Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 4 p.m. There is a board preview benefit performance, Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception.
