The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra presents the 1951 film An American in Paris with live performances of the score, November 25 26 in Newark and New Brunswick. Gene Kelly stars as a former American GI who falls for Parisian Leslie Caron; the film features classic songs by George and Ira Gershwin.

My Broadway review of “An American In Paris, A New Musical,” stated that it was “a visual, dance-driven Broadway story-telling creation that is gorgeous, enchanting, seamless and sophisticated.” Though I won't go raise the banner as high for the touring production, I will say that it is a very, very pleasing and “'S Wonderful” evening of theater.

It is beautifully illuminated by the music of Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Marvin Hamlisch, Peter Allen, Jim Croce and Leroy Anderson.
