Kimmel Center President and CEO Anne Ewers and Vice President of Theatrical Presentations and Programming Matthew Wolf announced today the Kimmel Center's 10th Anniversary 2011/12 Season, which celebrates Philadelphia legends ?? music, theater and dance luminaries - who call Philadelphia home. The 2011/12 season includes a diversity of world, pop, jazz, dance and classical offerings featured within the Kimmel Center's four distinct series, and a variety of artistic collaborations and co-promotions, now available through subscription packages.

The Nuyorican Poets Cafe presents the Poetic Heritage Festival, a retrospective series of poetry, theater and music events during the fall and winter of 2010. The Poetic Heritage Festival celebrates the work of distinguished artists - including Miguel Algarin, Ishmael Reed, Amiri Baraka Sandra Maria Esteves and Ntozake Shange - who are closely associated with the creation and history of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. This festival is made possible in part by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts' American Masterpieces Program. Pope and the choir will be joined by special guests and modern jazz giants Joe Lovano (May 20 - 21) and Ravi Coltrane (May 22 - 23). Since his 2006 Half Note Records release Locked & Loaded: Live at the Blue Note featuring Lovano, James Carter and the late Michael Brecker, Pope has penned a number of new works for the unique ensemble. *Note Reed's Bass Drum will open for Odean Pope's Saxophone Choir on Thursday, May 20 only from 6:30 to 7:30pm at no additional charge as a part of the Blue Note's Emerging Artist Series presented by Brother Thelonious of North Coast Brewing Company.
