MISS SAIGON producer Cameron Mackintosh has just released the details of the open call auditions for the upcoming global productions of the show whose reimagined 25th-anniversary production took London by storm and is set to open on Broadway next year, starring Eva Noblezada as Kim and Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer.

The new American musical ALLEGIANCE starring Tony and Olivier Award winner Lea Salonga (MISS SAIGON, LES MISERABLES) in her long-awaited return to Broadway, 'Star Trek' icon George Takei in his Broadway debut at age 78, and Broadway and 'Glee' star Telly Leung, played its final performance on Broadway on February 14, 2016. Last night, two-time Tony nominee Andre De Shields stopped by the Longacre Theatre, his old stomping grounds, to see the Broadway production of Allegiance.

ALLEGIANCE plays its final performance on Broadway today, February 14, 2016. Performances began at the Longacre Theatre on October 6, 2015, and the production officially opened on November 8, 2015. At the time of its closing, the musical will have played 37 previews and 113 regular performances, and will have been seen by approximately 120,000 people, a number that eerily echoes the number of Japanese Americans who were directly impacted by the events that inspired the show. While sports-lovers are gearing up for football's biggest night, theatre people are probably more interested in the performances than the Panthers and Broncos. Tonight's halftime show will feature Coldplay, with Beyonce and Bruno Mars, but before that, Lady Gaga will kick off the night with the National Anthem. ALLEGIANCE's Lea Salonga went to see Broadway's THE COLOR PURPLE last week, and the production seems to have left a lasting impression. So much so that Salonga expressed her hope of the show making it to Manila.

Theatre Forward and UBS will host the 13th Annual Broadway Roundtable on Friday, January 29th at UBS (1285 Avenue of the Americas) from 12:00pm - 2:00pm.

Although ALLEGIANCE will end its run early on February 14th, the creators, including GEORGE TAKEI, hope that the musical will have a life following its Broadway run.
