Broadway Backstory, a documentary-style podcast in which each episode finds out how a show develops from an idea to a full Broadway production, has just released their latest episode. The episode tracks LEGALLY BLONDE on it's journey to Broadway. 

Broadway veteran Laura Bell Bundy is at it again with a new Skits-O-Frenic episode, titled 'You Can't Pray The Gay Away.' The description reads: 'We should all know by now that you can't pray the gay away. It's in one's DNA and it's here to stay. In light of the inauguration, we pledge our support of and for the equal rights and treatment of the LGBTQ community. We hope all people feel the freedom to let their freak flag fly. Okrr?!'

TBS's THE GUEST BOOK is filling up quickly with notable entries. The new comedy series from Emmy(R) winner Greg Garcia (My Name Is Earl) has locked its first-season cast and guest cast. The Guest Book is slated to premiere on TBS in August.

According to the Lexington Herald Leader, Kentucky native Laura Bell Bundy, who is perhaps best known for originating the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, will co-direct a production of the show at the Lexington Theatre Company later this year. Bundy, who earned a Tony nomination for the role on 2007, made the announcement at the theatre's recent 'Concert With The Stars.'

Just as you would build a wardrobe, with varied outfits for different occasions and temperatures, your music repertoire book needs to feature a diverse selection of pieces to show you can handle different sorts of singing demands. Not every song can (or should be) a show-stopper, full of dramatic heft and long, sustained high notes at the top of your range. Sometimes, it's more important to demonstrate naturalness and vulnerability, or show that you understand the needs of a very specific musical style. It's valuable to have many different kinds of songs in your "toolbox" to exhibit the full scope of your strengths. 

The LEXington Theatre Company has announced that Laura Bell Bundy (TONY Nominee - Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Television's Fuller House, Anger Management), Leslie Kritzer (Something Rotten, A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), Krysta Rodriguez (Spring Awakening, The Addams Family, First Date, Television's Smash) and Matthew Scott (An American in Paris, Jersey Boys, A Catered Affair, Sondheim on Sondheim) will be joining this year's line-up of Broadway Vets for "Concert With The Stars," on Sunday, January 8 at 3:00pm, at The Lexington Opera House (Lexington, KY.)

In the spinoff series, Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure) recently widowed and living in San Francisco. D.J.'s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and D.J.'s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), along with Kimmy's feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.'s three boys - the rebellious 12-year-old Jackson, neurotic 7-year-old Max and her newborn baby, Tommy Jr. Fuller House stars Candace Cameron Bure as D.J. Tanner-Fuller, Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner, Andrea Barber as Kimmy Gibbler, Juan Pablo Di Pace as Fernando, Soni Nicole Bringas as Romona, Michael Campion as Jackson, Elias Harger as Max, Dashiell and FOX Messitt Twins as Baby Tommy, Scott Weinger as Steve Hale, John Brotherton as Matt Harmon, and Ashley Liao as Lola.

On the next episode of SCREAM QUEENS on FOX titled "Lovin The D", The Chanels are overwhelmed when their TV idol, Dr. Scarlett Lovin (guest star Brooke Shields), visits the C.U.R.E. Institute.

Goodspeed Musicals wants to help singers and actors to succeed in dance auditions.  In keeping with our mission to educate and support artists, Goodspeed will offer its first Goodspeed Movers Boot Camp January 6 - 8, 2017 at Pearl Studios in NYC.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today that Paulette Haupt, founding Artistic Director of its National Music Theater Conference, will step down following the 2017 season, after 40 years leading the program. The program began in 1978 after George C. White, founder of the O'Neill, invited Ms. Haupt to launch a new development program for music theater, in a similar mold to the O'Neill's groundbreaking National Playwrights Conference, launched in 1964.

When you first start digging into the vast array of musical theatre styles and genres out there, it can be pretty overwhelming. However, don't let this trepidation stop you from jumping in with both feet. You will be amazed with the help of all the great Broadway documentaries and archived recordings available on the Internet how easy it can be to immerse yourself in these classic scores, and immerse you must. Broadway music is traditionally very self-referential, and directors expect working actors to understand basic tropes like the Act I "what do I want" ballad or the eleven o'clock gospel number. Trust me, you don't want to be the only chorus member in Urinetown to miss that  "Snuff that Girl" is an affectionate tribute to "Cool" in West Side Story.

On the next episode of SCREAM QUEENS on FOX titled "Warts and All," a new patient (guest star Colton Haynes) with a hideous ailment visits the hospital in hope of a cure, but finds a love interest instead.

The Off-Broadway smash RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL will conclude its triumphant 14-month run tomorrow (Saturday) at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46 Street (just west of Eighth Ave.) RUTHLESS! opened July 13, 2015 to unanimous rave reviews led by Entertainment Weekly which called the show, "Uproarious!
