Scott Carter's DISCORD is more akin to an extended SNL sketch ~ longer to the tune of ninety minutes, comprised of a series of XV scenes, and made thoroughly bearable thanks to the whirlwind performances ~ albeit caricatures ~ of its original cast, Larry Cedar (Jefferson), Mark Gagliardi (Dickens), and Armin Shimerman (Tolstoy).

The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord, a blistering comedy battle of wits from Scott Carter, Executive Producer of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, that examines what happens when great men of history are forced to repeat it, comes to the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. The Colony Theatre is thrilled to present the second production of its 41st season, the West Coast Premiere of THE BEST OF ENEMIES by Mark St. Germain, directed by David Rose. THE BEST OF ENEMIES will preview tonight, September 16; Thursday, September 17; and Friday, September 18 at 8:00pm. It will open on Saturday, September 19 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 18.

DISCORD brings three great thinkers together in a room which appears to be a holding cell for heaven. They enter according to the time period in which they lived: first Thomas Jefferson, then Charles Dickens, and finally Count Leo Tolstoy. When each enters through the only door, it closes and locks, blocking the only way out. Thus begins their examination of why they have been brought together, what they could possibly have in common, and how can they possibly escape? It's a blistering battle of wits for the ages.

The Odyssey Theatre and The Porters of Hellsgate have announced return engagements of Sherlock Through The Looking-Glass, written and directed by Gus Krieger, and Larry Cedar's Orwellian, at the Odyssey Theatre in West Los Angeles. The two productions will run in repertory beginning November 8 for seven weeks only through December 22.
