Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2013-2014 season with New Dances PLUS: Edition 2013, Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater and features Juilliard alumna Pina Bausch's Wind von West (Wind from the West) performed by the Senior Class, plus three world premiere commissions created for each of the classes of Juilliard's Dance Division. Next season's innovative choreographers are Juilliard alumnus Takehiro Ueyama (1st Year Dancers); Brian Brooks (2nd Year Dancers); and Juilliard alumnus Darrell Grand Moultrie (3rdYear Dancers).

DCNT has announced the 2013 Honors recipients. Passion and dedication are the mark of each recipient. The six dancers will be honored on Sunday September 29, 2013, 2:00 pm. The public is invited to celebrate their achievements, enjoy a showcase of selected 2013 Dance Council scholarship dancers and a Silent Auction featuring an irresistible selection of performance and visual arts items and tickets.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents Swiss Family Robinson, a world premiere musical comedy by John and Patrick Kennedy. The 2013 River To River Festival opens this Saturday and runs through July 14, featuring music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, family events... Plus, for the first time, a series of evenings guest-curated by none other than Laurie Anderson.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Robert Battle has announced casting for the Company's return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts at the David H. Koch Theater from June 12-16, 2013. He has also invited three new dancers to join and perform with the acclaimed 30 member Company during the seven-performance engagement.

The Chicago Dancing Festival has announced the programming schedule for its seventh season. Co-produced by internationally renowned choreographer and native Chicagoan Lar Lubovitch and highly esteemed Chicago dancer Jay Franke, this 'Free-to-All' Festival is set to take place August 20 - 24, featuring top ballet, modern, ethnic and rhythmic dance companies from Chicago and across the country.

The third annual Dance Against Cancer at the AXA Equitable Theater on Monday, May 6, 2013 raised more than $96,000 for the American Cancer Society. The evening began with cocktails at 6pm, a performance at 7pm, and a reception at 8:30pm.

The result of several years of planning, Dance Speaks Out: Lynchtown/Thistown is a multi- faceted project that brings Nimbus Dance Works into collaboration with The Charles Weidman Dance Foundation to present a rare staging of Weidman's classic work, Lynchtown (1936).

Rose Caiola, Stuart Coleman, Julia Gruen, Heather Watts, Christopher Wheeldon and producers Erin Fogarty and Daniel Ulbricht present the third annual Dance Against Cancer on Monday, May 6, 2013 with cocktails at 6pm (VIP ticket only), a performance at 7pm, and a reception at 8:30pm at the AXA Equitable Theater, 787 Seventh Avenue (between 51st and 52nd Streets), NYC. As part of its 40th Anniversary year, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) unveils the 2013 edition of the annual River To River Festival, Downtown's completely free summer arts festival. This year's edition takes place June 15-July 14 and presents a diverse collection of music, dance, theater, visual art, film and unique participatory experiences by both renowned and breakout artists from New York City and beyond.

In celebration of choreographer Lar Lubovitch's 70th birthday in 2013, The Joffrey Ballet's season concludes this spring with the return of the native Chicagoan's three-act dance, Othello. Set to a score by Oscar winner Elliot Goldenthal, Othello uses an amalgam of classical ballet and modern dance to tell the dramatic story of the Venetian Moor, Othello, his beloved Desdemona and the conniving Iago, in a vibrant tale of passion, jealousy, ambition and betrayal. Live orchestral accompaniment is provided by The Chicago Philharmonic, led by Joffrey Music Director Scott Speck. The Joffrey Ballet presents Othello in ten performances only at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 East Congress Parkway, tonight, April 24 - May 5.

One of America's most versatile, popular and highly acclaimed choreographers, Lar Lubovitch leads the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company in New York City, which he founded 44 years ago. Lubovitch's dances are renowned for their musicality, rhapsodic style and sophisticated formal structures.

The New York Philharmonic will present A Dancer's Dream: Two Works by Stravinsky, a multidisciplinary, theatrical reimagining of the ballets The Fairy's Kiss and Petrushka, created by Giants Are Small. Sara Mearns, New York City Ballet principal dancer, will star in the production, which will be conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, directed and designed by Doug Fitch, choreographed by Karole Armitage, and produced by Edouard Getaz - Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 28 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, June 29 at 8:00 p.m.
