Chicago Dancing Festival founders Lar Lubovitch and Jay Franke are pleased to announce today additional works being added to the 2014 Festival lineup, including two more World Premieres, plus plans for a pre- and post-performance sponsors party around the "Celebration of Dance" Grand Finale performance, Saturday, August 23. Free tickets for the Festival's indoor performances become available to the public this week, July 8 and 9. LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture, working in collaboration with choreographer Renana Raz, whose work has been called "brilliant" by the Israeli press, is pleased to announce the first-ever international production of MOTHER.NET. The show aims to take the usually isolated experience of watching YouTube videos and turns it into a public experience. Offered in conjunction with Dance St. Louis' Seventh Annual Emerson Spring to Dance Festival 2014, high intermediate and advanced-level dancers ages 14 and up are invited to participate in a master class with Elisa Monte Dance. The class will include modern technique and choreography from the company's repertoire. Founded in 1981, Elisa Monte Dance celebrates the work of Elisa Monte, a former principal dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company, Lar Lubovitch and Pilobolus, is widely recognized for its highly athletic and sensual style exploring a multitude of topics and themes. Dance Against Cancer raised more than $200,000 for the American Cancer Society on Monday, May 5, 2014. Proceeds from the evening will benefit research initiatives and patient and family service programs. More than 500 guests attended the fourth annual Dance Against Cancer. VIP guests enjoyed cocktails, preferred seating, and a gift bag in addition to the performance and post-event reception. The performance featured new work by Brian Reeder created for American Ballet Theatre's Isabella Boylston with New York City Ballet's Chase Finlay and Amar Ramasar, Paul Taylor Dance Company in its first appearance at the benefit, Charles 'Lil Buck' Riley performed with students from National Dance Institute, and included the NYC premiere of Justin Peck's Sea Change. Joffrey Concert Group to Premiere Three New Works with Five Choreographers at New York Live Arts, 5/19-20

Joffrey Concert Group, a pre-professional performance company that prepares dancers for the world stage, will present two evenings of work at New York Live Arts, May 19-20. The troupe of 30 dancers will perform two signature works by Gerald Arpino-Kettentanz (1971), a neoclassical tour de force inspired by Old Vienna, and Light Rain (1981) a sensual evocation of the zeitgeist of the 1970's, performed in full for the first time in New York City since the Joffrey Ballet presented it twenty years ago. In addition, the program features two world premieres by Shawn Hounsell (formerly Royal Winnipeg) and Africa Guzman (former Associate Director of Compania Nacional de Danza under Nacho Duato), with a New York Premiere by Scott Rink (Lar Lubovitch Dance Company). Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2014-15 season in December 2014 with New Dances: Edition 2014 featuring four world premiere dances by innovative choreographers, Juilliard alumnus Austin McCormick (1st-Year Dancers); alumna Loni Landon (2nd-Year Dancers); Kate Weare (3rd-Year Dancers); and Larry Keigwin (4th-Year Dancers). Mr. Keigwin is returning to Juilliard where he already choreographed and premiered, in December 2008, Runaway, a large-scale piece that riffs on the high fashion runway scene, and in December 2009, Megalopolis. Pastor, Director of the Polish National Ballet and Resident Choreographer of the Dutch National Ballet, originally created this new version ofRomeo & Juliet in 2008 for the Scottish Ballet.
