La MaMa, the world-renowned downtown theatre founded by the late Ellen Stewart, will celebrate is 50th anniversary season in 2011-12 -- entitled 'Homecomings' - with a two day celebration on October 16th and 17th 2011: The La MaMa 50 World Block Party and The La MaMa 50 Gala. The festivities kick off with the La MaMa 50 World Block Party on Sunday, October 16 from 2 to 6pm on the block of East 4th Street (between the Bowery and Second Avenue in Manhattan) that is home to La MaMa's three performance spaces, and where Ms. Stewart herself resided for many years before her death in January 2011.

STONEHAM THEATRE'S SEASON 11: GREAT STORIES

Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced that Tony and Emmy Award winner Cynthia Nixon will return to MTC to star in the Broadway premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play WIT by Margaret Edson, directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow. The limited engagement of WIT will begin previews Thursday, January 5, 2012 and open Thursday, January 26, 2012 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

According to the Boston Globe, Tony nominee Lily Rabe will star in the New Group premiere of her father, David Rabe's new play- An Early History of Fire. The off-Broadway production will be directed by Jo Bonney and will run in thir 2011-12 season.

Everyone has obsessions, and New Edgecliff Theatre's 2011-2012 season seeks to examine the changes brought about by those obsessions - both in a person's life and the lives of those around them. The five-show season includes the late Lanford Wilson's Burn This and the regional premieres of St. Nicholas by Conor McPherson, and Reasons to be Pretty by Neal LaBute. The annual Sweet Suspense event returns for Halloween. NET breathes new life into its annual holiday offering, pairing The Santaland Diaries with new work from True Theatre.

Yellow Face, the nationally-acclaimed play by Tony Award winning playwright David Henry Hwang, will close at Silk Road Theatre Project (SRTP), produced in association with the Goodman Theatre, on July 17. Yellow Face, directed by Steve Scott, plays in Pierce Hall at The Historic Chicago Temple Building, 77 W. Washington St, Chicago.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of John Morogiello's comedy Engaging Shaw. Directed by Henry Wishcamper, Engaging Shaw will run July 29 - Sept. 4 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of The Old Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run July 29 - Aug. 3. La MaMa will present the world-premiere of HAMYUL/HAMLET -- a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic play by Korean-American writer/director Byungkoo Ahn-- this summer, with preview performances starting June 23 prior to a press opening June 26 at La MaMa (74A E. 4 St.) in Manhattan. Byungkoo Ahn directs.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing firms, presented the inaugural Off Broadway Alliance Awards Reception June 21, 2011 at Sardi's. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Romulus Linney, Ellen Stewart and Lanford Wilson were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.
