Playing the Capital Repertory Theatre in a co-production with Virginia's Barter Theatre, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN delights audiences with a concert style show that captures the legendary rocker in the prime of her career. The Play Company (PlayCo), the NYC-based theater company that produces outstanding contemporary plays from around the world, brings together top chefs and theater artists for this year's Cabaret Gourmet, PlayCo's annual gala. Drummer, DJ, producer, culinary entrepreneur and tastemaker, Questlove will be honored at the unique event, which features savory and sweet tasting dishes prepared by hand selected chefs from some of New York City's most celebrated restaurants, on the occasion of the publication of his forthcoming book somethingtofoodabout set for release the next day, April 12. The evening, which celebrates creativity in all its facets, will be MC'd by Tony nominee (Hand to God) and PlayCo alum (Enjoy, The Ugly One) Steven Boyer, with musical entertainment provided by indie pop band Sky-Pony.

In Shakespeare's First Folio edition, 'The Two Gentlemen of Verona' opens with Valentine leaving Verona for Milan to finish his education, leaving his friend Proteus at home to woo Julia. The Drilling Company's version, which opens the second season of Bryant Park Shakespeare, is set in NYC's Little Italy and Shakespeare's two cities are transformed into two rival New York restaurants. This free Shakespeare production will be in Bryant Park, where food kiosks serve affordable meals, capacious rest rooms are close at hand and seating on bistro chairs is guaranteed for everyone. Best of all, there will be no waiting in line for tickets.
