The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, 91.3 WYEP and the Three Rivers Arts Festival are pleased to announce Raul Malo at 8 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Byham Theater in downtown Pittsburgh. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 20, 2009. Originally making his mark in the county music world and then slipping into the Latin and jazz arenas via rock & roll, Raul Malo has proven to be an ever-expanding musical talent. As front man for The Mavericks from 1989 - 2001, Malo picked up a 1996 Grammy award and multiple Country Music Association awards. He released his first solo album, Today, in 2001.

McCarter Theater Center has added new events for 2009. Ben Folds has been scheduled for February 11, 2009 at 8pm. Over the last 15 years, Ben Folds' first-class melodic gifts, irony-laced lyrics, and punk-rock tendency to play piano as if it were a contact sport have earned the North Carolina native a legion of devoted fans of all ages. Kris Kristofferson has been booked for February 27, 2009 at 8pm.

Prospect Theater Company's 10th anniversary concert will be held Sept. 21 at Off-Broadway's 37 Arts. Falsettos' Stephen Bogardus will host the 9 PM concert, which will boast the talents of David Abeles, Jim Bauer, Jennifer Blood, Matt Cavenaugh, Gavin Creel, Jennifer Damiano, Malcolm Gets, Piper Goodeve, Adam Jacobs, Jose Llana, Jeff McCarthy, Meghan McGeary, Mark Mozingo, Brian Munn and Liz Power as well as members of the cast of the upcoming Prospect production of Illyria: Dan Sharkey, Ryan Dietz, Jim Poulos and Tina Stafford. 37 Arts is located in Manhattan at 450 West 37th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. The highly-anticipated Stephen King and John Mellencamp collaborative musical 'Ghost Brothers of Darkland County' has reportedly announced preliminary casting. The musical is expected to premiere at Georgia's Alliance Theatre in Atlanta during September 2010.
