Maestro Keith Lockhart chats about Mandy Patinkin, Sutton Foster and the 2016 season of the Boston Pops

Pioneer Theatre Company presents the American professional premiere of the new musical THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, written by Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy. Performances take place May 6 through May 21, 2016. PTC has just announced the full cast and creative team for the production!

Affectionately known as 'America's Orchestra,' The Boston Pops is the most recorded and arguably the most beloved orchestra in the country. Their spring season begins in Boston on May 6, but they will be presenting a very special afternoon concert locally, at The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College (SUNY), on Sunday, May 1, at 3pm.

As one season draws to an end, another phenomenal one must begin! The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is elated to announce its 2016-2017 Broadway, Dance and Classical series. 

The Auditorium Theatre  announces another season of exciting, diverse programming which supports its commitment to presenting the finest performances in international and local dance, along with America's most cherished music, to Chicago. Highlights of the Auditorium's 2016-17 season include Cole Porter 125 - A Birthday Celebration, featuring Chicago singers and musicians; Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater in their "Made in Chicago" Dance Series debut;  the return of Eifman Ballet's Red Giselle; and a new, innovative ballet by Dance Theatre of Harlem's Francesca Harper.

This Sunday, RISE BAR is seeking it's next RISING STAR! Hosted by Broadways Marty Thomas (Xanadu, The Secret Garden, Wicked), the RISING STAR competition begins Sunday March 6! The contestants will be competing in an 8 week elimination style contest for a $1000 cast prize and paid bookings at RISE Bar with their respective solo show. In addition to it's cash and prize package, RISING STAR is offering networking opportunities with guest celebrity judges, fantastic exposure and valuable live stage experience.

Brevard, NC and Aspen, Colo.—Lady Gaga won't be the only one in the musical spotlight at Super Bowl 50. This Sunday, Brevard Music Center and Aspen Music Festival -- two of the country's most prestigious music institutions and summer festivals -- are putting their batons down, and fists up, to defend the honor of their respective football teams, the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. 

This summer, over a ten-week period spanning June to August, Brevard Music Center (BMC) celebrates a historic 80th Anniversary with over eighty performances in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The LA Phil's 2015/16 Songbook Series continues with Brian Stokes Mitchell at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 8:00 PM. The Tony®-winning singer, actor, arranger and musician joins long-time pianist and collaborator,Tedd Firth, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by conductor Kevin Stites, for 'In Character,' an evening of Broadway tunes filled with beauty, joy, whimsy, romance, and Stokes' signature, inspired vocal interpretations. Expanding on his most recent album, Simply Broadway (which USA Todaydeemed as 'one of the best albums of 2012'), Stokes will perform such Broadway classics as 'I, Don Quixote,' 'Feeling Good,' 'Wheels of a Dream' and 'It Ain't Necessarily So,' among many others.

WALNUT CREEK, CA (December 15, 2015) – The California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera perform a program of music inspired by American jazz of the 1920s on Sunday, January 24, with pianist Charlie Albright joining the Orchestra for the original jazz band version of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. A suite of songs from Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera, Bernstein's little-heard Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs, Stravinsky's Scherzo à la russe, and Milhaud's Le création du monde complete the “American Roots” program. The concert is at 4 pm at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, with a free pre-concert talk with Cabrera beginning at 3 pm.

Previous Olivier Award winners Michael Ball, Katie Brayben, John Dagleish, Elaine Paige and Clive Rowe are the latest performers to join the star-studded cast in The Oliviers In Concert, with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

At this time of the year children all over the world are in a state of excitement. Tonight, December 1st at 7 pm at at Barnes & Noble located at 150 East 86th Street, Ann Hampton Callaway will perform selections from THE HOPE OF CHRISTMAS, a new collection of Christmas songs interpreted by the multiplatinum-selling singer, Tony nominated actress, pianist and leading champion of the American songbook, with lyrics by two-time Emmy Award winner William Schermerhorn. Schermerhorn will join Callaway in the discussion, with Alex Rybeck on piano.

The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra returns to the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) as part of their 2015 Holiday Pops Tour on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 2:30P. The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra is conducted by Keith Lockhart. 

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.
