The National Music Theater Institute (NMTI) is the newest credit-earning, semester-long intensive from the National Theater Institute. The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, welcomes an array of award-winning performers for Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, its annual benefit concert, tonight, July 21, at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, NYC).

Marcus Stevens, presently starring in "Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging," made a special appearance in Drexel Hill, PA yesterday to meet the cast and enjoy his musical, "Elliot and the Magic Bed." Stevens wrote the book and lyrics for "Elliot" and Brian Lowdermilk, one half of the successful singer-songwriting duo, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk, composed the music and wrote the lyrics with Stevens. The musical was originally commissioned for Upper Darby Summer Stage in 2003.

Samuel French, the 184-year-old publishing and licensing company, has announced a collaboration with HowlRound, an online community for theatre artists, this summer on a four-day event (July 14-17) that will focus on intellectual property and the rights of artists in the theatre.

Writing duo Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk have posted videos of their latest show, One (More) Night in London, at St. James Studio on June 16th with performances by American actor Michael Arden and West End stars Lucie Jones and Stuart Matthew Price. American actor Michael Arden will join West End stars Julie Atherton, Lucie Jones and Stuart Matthew Price alongside award-winning Off Broadway writing duo Kerrigan-Lowdermilk to showcase their work at the St. James Studio on Monday 16 June in Kerrigan-Lowdermilk: One (More) Night in London. Kerrigan-Lowerdmilk's return follows an acclaimed sold-out weekend of concerts at St. James Studio in February.

This year the Lilly Awards will celebrate women of distinction in musical theater in a special cabaret at West Bank Cafe (407 W 42nd Street, NYC), following the awards ceremony, which is set for Monday, June 2, at Playwrights Horizons. The cabaret will feature Kelli O'Hara, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Rebecca Luker, Kate Baldwin, Kenita Miller, The Broadway Boys, Graham Rowat, Katie Thompson, Lauren Pritchard, Taylor Noble, Jay Armstrong Jonson, The Skivvies (Lauren Molina & Nick Cearley) and Jason Robert Brown.

Republic by Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk; Feral with Book by Victor Lesniewski, Music by Jacob Yandura, and Lyrics by Rebekah Greer Melocik; and The Danger Year with Music & Lyrics by Georgia Stitt, and Book by Jamie Pachino. All readings are by INVITATION only and will be performed at The York Theatre Company in Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

During the event, established and up-and-coming musical theatre writers paired up to reach out to known sheet music pirates and ask them to take down the links to their sheet music. The day is intended to raise awareness about the problem of sheet music piracy and take steps against the digital distribution of stolen sheet music.
