THE LION KING Tour Celebrates Sold-Out Engagement in Durham

Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out four-week premiere engagement in Durham, NC which concluded on Sunday, January 30.

Show at Barre is proud to host yet another all-star lineup of Broadway, film, and TV stars for February 2nd's edition of The Christopher Show. The Christopher Show is a live, comedic American talk show that interviews established Hollywood as well as new Hollywood and the Broadway community. Funny man and Broadway star Christopher Youngsman (Grease) hosts. This week in the interview chair will be rocker and Tony nominee Adam Pascal (RENT), and comedy masters Fred Willard (A Mighty Wind) & Tim Bagley (Will & Grace, Ovation-winning play Four Places). The show, which recurs Wednesday evenings at the beginning of each month at Barre, VT, will be live on February 2nd at 8pm.

Drama Critics' Circle Fails to Reach Consensus on SPIDER-MAN Reviews

Adam Feldman, head of the New York Drama Critics' Circle, an organization comprised of many, but not all New York critics has just blogged about the result of their meeting tonight. On the agenda was whether they'd be able to reach a consensus about whether to wait for SPIDER-MAN's opening night to review the show. The end result? No consensus.

Casting has been announced for the Providence engagement of Disney's THE LION KING. Providence's most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the PPAC stage from Tuesday, February 1 to Sunday, February 20. The press opening night is Thursday, February 3 at 7:30 PM.

Reeve Carney and Band Set to Open for U2's '360 Tour,' 7/30

Carney, the band that plays onstage for SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark and whose lead singer, Reeve Carney, is the show's star, will open for U2 this summer. As per the band's website, 'Carney will be joining U2 for the last date of their epic 360° Tour alongside Arcade Fire at Magnetic Hill in Moncton, New Brunswick on July 30th 2011'. Well, the major critics haven't gone in (yet) but now the Toronto Star is the latest paper to break the gentleman's agreement of holding reviews until after the official opening, an agreement which generally assumes a typical amount of previews. Critic Richard Ouzounian writes that 'The only truly amazing thing about Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, is how unequivocally awful it is...'

A recent article from Variety asks the question: When will SPIDER-MAN: Turn Off the Dark rehearse the changes to the show that have been promised? By the time she show is set to open on March 15, the musical will have set the record for most preview performances. And after returning to a full eight-preview weekly schedule, there isn't much time to do more than perform the show as it is.

SPIDER-MAN Opens Feb. 7 Show to Public; Tix On Sale Thru May

Lead producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris announced today that tickets have gone on sale for the 8:00 p.m. preview performance on Monday, February 7th. The performance was previously reserved for the show's opening night. In addition, as of today, tickets are now on sale for performances of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark through Sunday, May 8th. Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, and new music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in previews at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street).
