T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre (Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, Co-Artistic Directors) announced today that it will host a Salute to New York Theatre to honor a trio of New York theatre luminaries on Monday, November 12th, starting at 6:00 pm at the Maritime Hotel (363 West 16th Street at 9th Avenue). This year's group of honorees includes Tony Award-winning actress Judith Light, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley and NY1 theatre critic Roma Torre.

After a three-year absence, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway returns to the 47th Street Theatre with a brand new edition, Forbidden Broadway: ALIVE AND KICKING. The show, which opened last night, September 6, will run for a limited engagement through January 6, 2013. UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), whose mission focuses on the preservation of musical theater through the restoration and presentation of obscure but artistically sound works, has announced programming for its 2013 season. A one-night-only benefit concert presentation of the legendary 1935 musical revue At Home Abroad kicks off the season on October 15, 2012 at the Peter Norton Symphony Space. Bruce Vilanch, Julie Halston, Christine Pedi, Noah Racey and Margaret Colin are among the cast.

She will recreate the widely popular show 'The Passion of the Crawford' - a fab fantasia about the refraction of celebrity and addiction to fame - for the first time in the Bay Area in more than five years.

As first reported exclusively by BroadwayWorld, ANASTASIA - A New Musical is being brought to the stage in a 29-hour reading, which entered rehearsals last week, based on the hit 1997 animated motion picture from Fox Animation Studios. The musical, which is in its early stages of development, will feature the five songs from the film along with fifteen new songs written for the stage. Joining the creative team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty will be bookwriter Terrence McNally and music director Ben Cohn. Joining the previously announced cast is Kelli Barrett in the title role of Anya (Anastasia). Patrick Page once again dons the role of the villain, Vladimir. Angela Lansbury will reprise her role from the film as the Empress Maria, and Aaron Tveit will play Dimitri.

On Monday night, Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, the annual benefit concert of the New York Civil Liberties Union (the state-affiliate of the ACLU), was presented at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts. Monday night's "Classical Julie," starring the inimitable Julie Halston, was one of the all-time best nights in the History of Halston, let alone the history of the Broadway at Birdland series, and comedy in general. (Her portrayal of Lady MacBeth, as played by Little Edie Beal, will be imitated for years to come!) Some of the smartest and funniest people in showbiz swarmed to see her, including Edward Hibbert, Harriet Harris, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Amy Rutberg, Louise DuArt & SQuire Rushnell, Mike Doyle, Mary Testa, Richie Ridge, Richard Hillman, Natalie Douglas, and a boatload of her beloved Anything Goes cast members. The evening was directed by Carl Andress.

Broadway and television actor Jason Kravits (Relatively Speaking, "The Practice") will host "Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music", a little over one week after what would have been Oscar Hammerstein II's 117th birthday, tonight, July 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street). The presentation will be preceded by a special outdoor BBQ Style dinner hosted by Hamilton's Grill Room beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Yesterday, July 14, Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore hosted the 14th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies.
