Through her passion for words and music, she openly shares her survival of alcoholism and the loss of her son, who committed suicide at age 33. Her writing provides solace in the face of grief and loss. On October 17th, The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and MusicWorks will honor Ms. Collins by shining a spotlight on one of the five largest free-standing behavioral health providers in the United States, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, serving the greater Grand Rapids and national community for more than 100 years.

This October 2014, Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris opens at the Charing Cross Theatre for a strictly limited six-week run from 16 October to 22 November 2014. Press night is set for Saturday 18 October at 7.45pm. The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program.
