Asolo Rep, in collaboration with Tony Award® winner Kenneth Waissman (Grease, Torch Song Trilogy) presents the world premiere of the new, Broadway-bound musical JOSEPHINE. Opening tonight, Friday, May 6 at 8pm, the production runs at the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, through May 29. Grammy® nominated, multi-platinum selling recording artist Deborah Cox (Broadway's Aida, Jekyll & Hyde; vocals for the Whitney Houston Lifetime movie Whitney) stars as the legendary African-American performer Josephine Baker. Asolo Rep's Education & Outreach department proudly presents Kaleidoscope: The Spectacular Sensation Extravaganza! on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 6pm in the Mertz Theatre, on the set of Asolo Rep's world premiere of Josephine. The performance is the culmination of this season's Kaleidoscope, an award-winning annual program founded by Broadway veteran Ann Morrison in 1995, which serves individuals with disabilities from local community organizations and schools to discover creative and personal expression through theatre.
Two-Time Tony Nominee Vivian Reed Returns to The Metropolitan Room This Month

?VIVIAN REED, the two-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway star and concert artist called "remarkable and ferocious" by The New York Times and "a force of nature" by The New York Post, continues her acclaimed concert series "Standards and More" at The Metropolitan Room on Monday, May 23 at 7:00 PM. Returning as special guests for this performance will be Metropolitan Opera soprano Janinah Burnett and Broadway and nightclub Raun Ruffin star, who appeared in The Civil War. Reed will also perform at The Metropolitan Room on June 17 and July 21, backed by a four-piece band led by Billy McDaniel. The evening includes unique arrangements of classic standards by Duke Ellington, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and George Gershwin in a dazzling blend of pop, jazz, soul and R&B.
