BSO SuperPops Will Present the Canadian Tenors on Thanksgiving Weekend

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) SuperPops welcomes The Canadian Tenors, led by conductor Michael Rossi, to the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on Thanksgiving weekend, with performances on Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, November 25 at 3 p.m. The Tenors, who have sung with such superstars as Sting, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Neil Young and Sir Paul McCartney, will bring their blend of pop and classic songs to Baltimore audiences.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and Music Director Marin Alsop have been acclaimed for their performances and recordings of Czech master Antonin Dvo?ak. On November 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and November 17 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, the BSO will perform Dvo?ak's lyrical Eighth Symphony and Brahms' poetic Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by pianist Denis Kozhukhin in his BSO debut.

Kennedy Center Honoree Barbara Cook takes to the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall stage with a performance showcasing her silvery soprano voice on Saturday, November 3 at 8pm. In her first performance ever at the Meyerhoff, Ms. Cook will celebrate her 85th birthday through inspiring performances from jazz, swing and pop songs. Conductor Ken Lam of the newly-formed Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras and the Enchantment Theatre present Wizards & Wands: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Apprentice at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on November 3 at 11 a.m. Unlocking key scientific concepts, discover the natural versus supernatural and link science, music and magic. For the third consecutive year, musicians, staff, donors and volunteers from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will participate in the Baltimore Running Festival. Today, October 13, 2012, this team of 160 runners will run as members of BOLT for the BSO, a group dedicated to raising awareness and funding for the Orchestra. BSO Launches Passport Offering Unlimited Concerts to Patrons Age 21-40

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announces BSO Passport, a new discounted ticket program for young professionals. From October 15-November 15, patrons age 21-40 can pay $75 to purchase a BSO Passport, good for admission to unlimited* concerts for the entire 2012-13 season at both the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, Md. and The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md. BSO Passports can be purchased exclusively at BSOmusic.org/Passport. Passport users must present their Passport card and a photo ID to enter all selected concerts throughout the entire season.

Under the baton of debuting conductor Markus Stenz, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica" tonight, October 4 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, and Saturday, October 6 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. German violinist Kolja Blacher will make his BSO debut performing Schumann's Violin Concerto. In addition, the Orchestra will perform Chaos from Rebel's The Elements. Cornelius Meister Leads BSO in Brahms' Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, 10/26-28

Guest conductor Cornelius Meister returns thanks to popular demand to lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in a program of Mozart, Brahms and Strauss on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore. The concert includes Brahms' final work for orchestra, his Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, featuring BSO Concertmaster Jonathan Carney and Principal Cellist Dariusz Skoraczewski. The concert also includes one of Mozart's great symphonies, No. 35, the "Haffner" and Strauss' masterful tone poem Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks.

The musicians and staff of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) mourn the loss of Dennis Kain, Principal Timpanist, who lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, September 15. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

In keeping with that vision, Maestra Alsop has funded a pilot partnership with Parsons The New School for Design to create new interactions between the orchestra and its audience through a re-imagining of traditional concert dress. This semester-long collaborative studio will investigate new fashions and wearable technologies that emphasize a networked world of musicians, audiences, the music being performed and the concert hall facility.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Music Director Marin Alsop leads the BSO in 2012-2013 Season Preview Concerts on Thursday, September 13 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore and on Friday, September 14 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The concert highlights programs from the 2012-2013 season, such as Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, music from Bernstein's West Side Story, and a performance of Baltimore native Christopher Rouse's Ku-Ka-Ilimoku.
