In response to the news that the UK touring production of DADDY COOL was cancelled, the tour's co-producer Albert Verlinde Entertainment (AVE) has stated it was "surprised by the late decision of the English producers".

Theatre producer and Stage Entertainment founder Joop van den Ende received an honorary doctorate from Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands. It's his second doctorate honouring his role in the live entertainment sector and impetus to culture in the Netherlands.

Chairman of Stage Entertainment, Joop van den Ende and Producer and President of Disney Theatrical Productions, Thomas Schumacher announce two premiere productions of THE LITTLE MERMAID. The Holland production is currently in previews in Groningen and opens on June 16th, 2012 in Rotterdam. The Moscow production of THE LITTLE MERMAID will make its debut on October 6th, 2012.

According to Stage-entertainment.com, beginning in August the Circustheater in The Hague will turn into AFAS Circustheater. As described by Stage-entertainment, 'AFAS ERP Software has teamed up with Stage Entertainment Netherlands as sponsor of the theatre that is renowned for its big international musicals produced by Joop van den Ende Theaterproducties such as Aida, The Lion King, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and, as of the fall, Wicked.'

Henk Kivits, Stage Entertainment's CEO and successor of founder Joop van den Ende, has implemented some strong measures in the top management of the company, necessary for the realization of the plans for the coming five years. The international theatre company now works from eight different countries. Worldwide 35 productions are played every day.

Amsterdam's mayor, Eberhard van der Laan, presented Joop van den Ende with the Gold Medal of the City of Amsterdam for his outstanding contributions in art and culture. He was presented this award on Monday evening, November 22, 2010. Most Gold Medals are designed to celebrate the accomplishments of mayors who have completed their terms in office. However, under certain circumstances, such as the case of Joop van den Ende, this award can be presented to those who have gone above and beyond, contributing positively to the city of Amsterdam. Award recipients are known nationally and internationally; Joop van den Ende shares the honor with Nelson Mandella, Winston Churchill and Dwight Eisenhower, among others.

She will perform the role on the evening of Friday 22 October, at two shows on Saturday 23 October and at two shows on Monday 25 October. Whoopi's previous run, her West End debut, was a huge critical success and saw fans camping overnight at the box office and daily queues around the block at the London Palladium for tickets. During Whoopi's run Sister Act also broke the record for the highest weekly gross of any musical ever at the Palladium. She was unable to complete that run, which was to end on August 31, when she had to return to the USA due to a family emergency.

According to a report by Whatsonstage.com, Sally Dexter is set to replace Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Superior in the West End production of SISTER ACT. Dexter will be staying with the show until it closes on October 30.
