The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines is scheduled to bring some of Broadway's most acclaimed and loved shows to Iowan audiences during their 2012-2013 season. Shows included in the standard season package include the national tours of LES MISERABLES, WAR HORSE, THE BOOK OF MORMON, JEKYLL & HYDE, and MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. 'It is with a great deal of pride, and certainly affection, that we announce the second and third inductees into America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame for 2013.' Bob Everhart is the president of the National Traditional Country Music Assn., and has been since 1976. 'We received our 501(c)3 status in 1982 and have been working hard keeping traditional and classic country music alive.' Everhart said. 'Part of that 'genre' of early country music has certainly been Gospel music. It is a stalwart here in the upper Midwest, especially in our rural areas, but it seems to be somewhat diluted in large urban areas. Perhaps that is why we have selected two incredibly deserving individuals for Hall of Fame honors this year.'

FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation, will make its Segerstrom Center premiere tonight, May 7 - 19, 2013.

The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts - owned and operated by Cincinnati Landmark Productions (CLP) - will undergo a massive renovation aimed at improving the patron experience. The work was identified shortly after CLP bought the building in 2002 (with support from the city of Cincinnati), along with four other phases of renovation work to transform the old movie house into a 21st century performing arts center. The work scheduled for this summer is the last of the original five-phase renovation plan.

It's true that on December 4, 1956, Sun Records was host to an incredible meeting of four gentleman (Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis) who would go on to lay the foundation for Rock 'n' Roll, but a listen to the actual recording made that day prove that it was a much simpler affair than what's presented in the stage musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. Still, the inspiration that story provides (book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux) makes for a rockin' good time, and this award-winning show is fun from start to finish.
