The OMNI Ensemble will continue its 36th season of concerts at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 8:00 pm. The program will feature music for flute, cello and piano. Also being performed are improvisations by The OMNI Ensemble featuring the Kora, an indigenous African string instrument. Music will be Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata op. 28, arranged for trio by Jim Lahti, Bohuslav Martinu's Trio for flute, cello and piano, Peter Schickele's Summer Trio, Michael Sirotta's Emanations Of Blue Light-A Rhapsody for Flute and Piano, and electronic and acoustic improvisations by The OMNI Ensemble featuring the Kora. Musicians are David Wechsler - flutes, John Cheek - keyboards, with guest artists Eric Cooper - cello and Salieu Suso - Kora.

Ahoy matey! Sail off on a swashbuckling excursion with Jeremy Jacob and his pirate friends, as the cast of Dallas Children's Theater's (DCT) National Touring Production of HOW I BECAME A PIRATE returns to the city for a summer run. Based on the book by Melinda Long, this joyful family musical is sure to leave all budding pirates singing and dancing in the aisles. HOW I BECAME A PIRATE runs from June 15 - July 8 at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts.

Ars Lyrica Houston's A Roman Feast Gala, Honoring Rhonda and Donald Sweeney chaired by Drs. Rachel and Warren Ellsworth IV, and Sarah and Gabriel Loperena took place March 3, 2018 in the historic Esperson building in downtown Houston, an event to raise funds for the organization's first fully-staged Baroque opera, Handel's Agrippina to be produced November 2018. The evening began with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the contemporary Rusk Lobby, filled with fragrant lavender, ferns and Romanesque decor with live harp music. An intimate concert of Handel arias followed, performed by acclaimed countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, Artistic Director Matthew Dirst on harpsichord, and violinist Alan Austin in the Esperson Neils Lobby. Guests then enjoyed a grand feast on theme and ended with an Italian disco after party in the transformed Neils Lobby complete with dancing, drinks, light bites, and craft beer sponsored by Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.  

Team Awesome Robot will present the World Premiere of Daniel John Kelley's That True Phoenix, directed by Christopher Diercksen (Assistant Director, Brittany Ayers), April 21-May 7 at the Access Theater.

Continuing as the chamber music group in residence at the Brooklyn Conservatory, the OMNI Ensemble will continue to perform concerts of enormous variety all designed to provide their audience with a musical diversity not ordinarily encountered by one chamber music group. ArtsBridge Foundation, the arts education outreach arm of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, today announced the nominees for the 8th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards in a live streaming broadcast on GPB.org. Tony Award-winner and Marietta-native Shuler Hensley joined GPB Sports Anchor Jackie Brittan to announce the nominations. 28 public and private schools from throughout the state were nominated in 17 categories. The awards, which showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent, will be presented at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 21. GPB will air the show live on its nine-station statewide television network.

Stage Left Theatre announces the recipients of the Downstage Left Playwright Residencies for Season 33. Residencies are designed to help playwrights take a project from the conceptual stage all the way to a production-ready script. Playwrights work closely with ensemble directors and members of the literary team to design a process tailored for the particular needs of their project.

The OMNI Ensemble will continue its 31st season of concerts in the recital hall at the Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Staten Island, 2800 Victory Boulevard on Thursday afternoon, February 27th at 2:30 pm, and at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music on Saturday evening, March 1, 2014 at 8:00 pm. Music Director/Flutist David Wechsler and cellist Brian Snow welcome harpsichordist Rebecca Pechefsky, and violinists Antonia Nelson and Caroline Chin in a program featuring Baroque and contemporary music played on period instruments for half the concert. Music performed will be J.S. Bach's Trio Sonata in G major, Francois Couperin's Trio Sonata La Superbe, Antonio Vivaldi's Sonata in G, Olga Nazaykinskaya's Trio Sonata, Mark Janello's Six Harpsichord Miniatures, and David Wechsler's Carmela'a Blue Fit for alto flute, violin, viola and cello.
