Continuing its mission to create uniquely challenging contemporary theater experiences while fostering Emerging Artists, Bootless Stageworks and Stage Director Justin Walsh have assembled an exceptionally talented cast to undertake Delaware's professional premiere of the Tony award-winning musical, Spring Awakening. Written by Steven Sater with music by Duncan Sheik, the rock musical based on the play by Frank Wedekin explores self-discovery and what it means to experience love and loss. Set in a small 19th century German town, a group of teen classmates begin to experience changes that confuse and fascinate them, but coming from a society where discussions regarding sex, fantasy, homosexuality, abuse and alike are deeply frowned upon, the students are confronted with the struggle of dealing with these changes without guidance. The blended sound of both rock and roll and folk music under the skillful baton of Music Director, James W. Fuerst, heighten the stakes to make this show a theatrical experience like no other. Spring Awakening holds special meaning to Delaware's theater community as it was the vehicle for hometown hero, John Gallagher, Jr., to receive a Tony award for his portrayal of Moritz in the original Broadway production.

When did you learn about sex? How? Who told you about 'the birds and the bees,' 'making a baby,' 'when two people really love one another'? I'm not sure where I picked it up, though I'm fairly certain it wasn't from my parents. The gag reflex rising in my throat even at the thought makes me certain I never flat out asked my mother. In any case the information got to me somehow, and I lived to tell the tale via hazy, inconsistent memories. mad Theatre of Tampa's production of SPRING AWAKENING, the first show of their 16th season, follows a group of adolescents in late 19th century Germany as they question what's happening to their bodies - physically and emotionally

On Friday, August 5th, the students of Broadway Artists Alliance received a visit from Tony Award winner, Jessie Mueller. She charmed them from the first moment when she sat down for her interview and rescued an eyelash from Artistic Director Jennifer Johns' cheek so that she could make a wish. On July 21st, the students of Broadway Artists Alliance of NYC were tearfully overjoyed by a surprise visit from Hamilton star Renee Elise Goldsberry. Recently winning a Tony Award and Grammy for her role as Angelica Schuyler, Goldsberry spoke about the incredible journey that Hamilton has taken from workshopping a concept, to performing at The Public and moving to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, to earning 16 Tony nominations and winning a Pulitzer Prize. Goldsberry captivated the students of Broadway Artists Alliance during a lively Q&A where she offered generous advice. Scroll down for photos from her appearance!

Tony Award Winner, Laura Benanti, delighted the students of Broadway Artists Alliance's Summer Intensive program with a surprise visit this past Thursday! Benanti, who recently finished up a successful run of She Loves Me (2016 Tony Nomination for Leading Actress in a Musical), was as inciteful and entertaining off stage as she is on, during her Q&A with these aspiring young professionals. Tony Award Nominee and School of Rock's leading man, Alex Brightman, visited the students of Broadway Artists Alliance on Thursday, July 7th. Brightman spoke of how his career journey led to originating the role of Dewey Finn, which earned him a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. Scroll down for photos!

This season's revival of Eugene O'Neill's LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, presented by Roundabout Theatre Company in association with Ryan Murphy, concludes its limited Broadway run today, June 26th, 2016, after 22 previews and 62 regular performances.

Happy Birthday, John Gallagher, Jr.! Gallagher originated the role of Moritz Stiefel in Spring Awakening on Broadway after performing the role Off-Broadway and in workshops at Lincoln Center. Gallagher won the 2007 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance. In 2010, Gallagher starred in American Idiot, a musical based on the Green Day album of the same name, playing Johnny aka 'Jesus of Suburbia'. He most recently starred in the Broadway production of The Royal Court Theatre's Jerusalem.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place just last week in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including the casts of Aladdin, An American in Paris, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, Bright Star, Chicago, The Color Purple, Disaster!, Fiddler on the Roof, Finding Neverland, Fun Home, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, LES MISERABLES, Matilda The Musical, On Your Feet!
