Each year on March 27, the international theatre community celebrates World Theatre Day. Founded in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), World Theatre Day was created to celebrate theatre around the world, with various national and international theatre events organized to mark the occasion.

Korean American playwright Lloyd Suh's Off-Broadway play 'American Hwangap' holds its Asian premiere in Manila through a co-production arrangement between the Cultural Center of the Philippines' (CCP) resident theatre company Tanghalang Pilipino, and New York-based Lark Play Development Center. Top billed by the Philippines' most respected actors on stage, television and film - Mario O' Hara, Celeste Legaspi, Gina Pareño and Bembol Roco - 'American Hwangap' is presented in its original English form, and in a Filipino translation written by Philippine literature professor and writer Joi Barrios-Leblanc. The play runs until Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the CCP Little Theatre.

The Committee for Recognizing Women in Theater presented the first annual 'Lilly Awards' in honor of Lillian Hellman at Playwright's Horizons yesterday, May 24. This year, the Lilly Awards honored 17 women theater artists who have been produced in the past year in New York City. An after party was held and the West Bank Cafe.

Mauritius playwright Theresa Rebeck to be guest of honor at Lark Theatre's 'An Evening with Theresa Rebeck' Lark Play Development Center is the New York-based theatre company where Rebeck wrote Mauritius and other plays on Tuesday, October 2 at 6PM at Angus McIndoe.
