The Colony Theatre's THE MORINI STRAD Opens on Schedule Tonight

The Colony Theatre previously announced that it has achieved the first goal of its emergency "Save the Colony" campaign by raising $49,000 in ten days so that it can open THE MORINI STRAD as scheduled tonight, November 17th. However, the award-winning theatre company still must raise $500,000 by year's end to continue serving the region.

Richard Eyre directs the world premiere of Nick Dear's The Dark Earth and the Light Sky at the Almeida Theatre. Running until the 12 January 2013, with press night tonight, 15 November 2012. Designs are by Bob Crowley with lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by John Leonard. The cast is Pip Carter (Edward Thomas), Pandora Colin (Eleanor), Ifan Huw Dafydd (Philip Thomas), Shaun Dooley (Robert Frost), Hattie Morahan (Helen Thomas) and Dan Poole (Bott/Major Lushington). Alan Gilbert, whose tenure as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic has just been extended through the 2016-17 season, heads across Lincoln Center Plaza this month to lead three fully-staged performances of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Juilliard School (tonight, Nov 14 and Nov 17, & 19), where he serves as Director of Conducting and Orchestral Studies.

Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will lead his first Met performances of Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera, in a new production by renowned opera director David Alden, beginning tonight, November 8. The staging is the first of two new Verdi productions in the current Met season, which includes seven operas by the great composer in honor of the 200th anniversary of his birth.

Featuring a concert version of King's Bessie-nominated piece Astral Epitaphs that was commissioned by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company for its final shows at the Park Avenue Armory in Dec. 2011, the music of New York composer John King (www.johnkingmusic.com) will be presented at Brooklyn's Roulette on Friday, December 7 at 8pm.
