Detroit's Olympia Entertainment announced it's spring and summer line-up featuring comedians, family entertainment and concerts. The line-up kicks of April 16 with three shows including King of the Cage at Cobo Arena (301 Civic Center Drive); Dennis Edwards and the Temptations Review Event at the Fox Theatre (2211 Woodward Avenue); and Frankie Vallie and the Four Season will be at the Sound Board (2901 Grand River) for one of two shows returning to Detroit's Fox Theatre on October 22. Additional highlighs include Jerry Seinfield on April 17; Tyler Perry's 'Madea's Big Happy Family' May 6-15; Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra on June 27; Cyndi Lauper will perform on July 1 and on October 8th The Pointer Sister.

Two world premieres, a number of new productions and some old favorites will be on exhibit at Bloomington's Musical Arts Center during Indiana University Opera and Ballet Theater's 2010-2011 season.

Rossini's rarely performed Armida has its Met premiere on April 12 with a gala performance of Mary Zimmerman's new production. Renowned soprano Renée Fleming stars as the mythological sorceress, Armida, one of the greatest virtuoso roles from the bel canto repertory. Fleming is joined by Lawrence Brownlee, who sings Armida's chief love interest, Rinaldo, and five more tenors in the roles of the crusader knights. José Manuel Zapata portrays Rinaldo's deadly rival Gernando.

Hal Prince is currently taking on a new challenge very different from many of the shows he has worked on in the past. In the process of bringing PARADISE found to an eventual home on Broadway, Prince understands he may have to compete against several of his own shows.

Olympia Entertainment located in Detroit has scheduled numerous events for the approaching months including Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons, comedians Tim Allen, Jerry Seinfeld and Wanda Sykes, Tyler Perry's MADEA'S BIG HAPPY FAMILY, and The Pointer Sisters. Starting this month, these and other performances are planned through October.

Rehearsals begin yesterday, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26. -André Rieu has confirmed his return to the Chicagoland area. Rieu, together with his 55 piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, will return to North America for a 21-city run that starts in June. Rieu will appear in concert at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road in Rosemont on Monday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale at www.ticketmaster.com on March 15 at 11 a.m.

In March, the Washington University Opera will celebrate Jolly Stewart's upcoming retirement with an 'all-star' performance of DER FLEDERMAUS (1874), the beloved operetta by Johann Strauss II (1825-99). The production will feature nine returning alumni - all of whom now sing professionally - as well as celebrated baritone Ian Greenlaw, teacher of applied music in Arts & Sciences.

The Ukraine's Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra - led by American Maestro Hobart Earle and joined by Mariangela Vacatello, the Italian finalist in the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition - come to Gainesville's Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, March 3.

Harold Prince and Susan Stroman will direct an all-American cast including Kate Baldwin, John Cullum, Shuler Hensley, Judy Kaye and Mandy Patinkin, in the world premiere of Paradise Found at the Menier Chocolate Factory this spring.

Variety reports this morning that A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC helmer, Trevor Nunn, is set to direct a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's ASPECTS OF LOVE for London's Menier Chocolate Factory. Nunn directed the show's premiere in 1987, as well.
