Cast members from the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical Once will perform at 54 BELOW this Sunday, March 16 at 254 West 54th Street at 11:30pm. The multi-talented cast, including Paul Nolan, Joanna Christie, Adam Wesley Brown, David Patrick Kelly, Katrina Lenk, Brandon McGibbon, Anne L. Nathan, Andy Taylor, Erikka Walsh, Paul Whitty, J. Michael Zygo, Joanne Borts, Brandon Ellis, Elisabeth Evans, Jessie Fisher, Ben Hope, Don Noble, Ari McKay Wilford and more, celebrate St. Patty's a tad early with an evening of their favorite songs as they again bring their myriad of instruments and skills to the 54 Below stage. On Friday 6 December 2013 whilst visiting New York, Declan Bennett, who plays Guy in the West End production of Once, dropped in to visit Arthur Darvill and Joanna Christie who play Guy and Girl in the Broadway production. They met on the shows onstage bar at the Bernard B. Jacob's Theatre where they swapped anecdotes about performing on both sides of the Atlantic in this multi-award winning production. Clearly, Once is a perfect show for a family with teenage children. It doesn't pander in any way, yet it's message is so pure and beautiful, it becomes holistically wholesome by the end of the show. It's a love story. There is no violence. Women are not exploited. Children are not harmed. But there is pain and heartbreak and loss and when those things are filtered through the minds and mouths of working class Irish folk, the F word shows up. A lot.
