Taking the gender parity problem head-on New York Madness is bringing to the stage a Special All-Women writers and directors edition of their short play festival, a mainstay of NYC's Indie Theater Community. NYMadness has produced at HERE Theater, Cherry Lane Theatre, Ensemble Studios Theatre, INTAR Theater, ESPA Primary Stages and many more across the city. Since inception six years ago NYMadness has been a leader on gender parity maintaining a 50/50 even split men/women on their roster. With a focus on emerging artists, NYM hosts a hot night of short plays all based on a Theme announced one week prior to the event. The Theme for this special edition is appropriately dubbed, SMASHING THE PATRIARCHY Madness.

Penny Jackson's dark comedy I KNOW WHAT BOYS WANT, now playing at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre, 410 West 42nd Street, NYC, will host a talk-back about cyber bullying following the 3 PM Sunday matinee on July 26th lead by Nicholas Carlisle, the founder of No Bully, an evidence-based program that leverages student empathy to stop bullying and cyber bullying. The No Bully System has created bully-free campuses for over 120,000 students.

Ego Actus will present the World Premiere of Penny Jackson's dark comedy I KNOW WHAT BOYS WANT at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre, 410 West 42nd Street, NYC, beginning performances on July 16th, opening July 18th at 8 PM and continuing through August 2nd. The Equity production will be directed by Joan Kane with scene design by David Goldstein, costumes by Caitlin Cisek, lights by Dennis Parichy, sound by Andy Evan Cohen, projections by Jim Marlow. The Stage Manager is Tyler Winthrop.

From today, October 21 to November 8, August Strindberg Repertory will transport Strindberg's 'Miss Julie' to an antebellum Louisiana plantation in a new interpretation conceived by Artistic Director Robert Greer and adapted by Edgar Chisholm from a translation by Greer. The production will include a ballet sequence, which Strindberg specified in the original manuscript and which has never been performed before. The piece will be directed by Robert Greer and choreographed by Ja' Malik.

Manhattan Theatre Works (MTWorks), in association with the Theater Series at the 14th Street Y, will present the World Premiere of Sweet, Sweet Spirit by Carol Carpenter (Outstanding Playwriting for Good Lonely People - Planet Connections Awards), directed by Joan Kane (2011 People of the Year in Indie Theatre - Martin Denton, nytheatre.com). Sweet, Sweet Spirit will play a three week limited engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street at 1st Avenue).
