Rehearsals are now underway for Dans der Vampieren in Belgium. Dans der Vampieren, an adaptation of TANZ DER VAMPIRE which was to open in Belgium, has been delayed. Reports are that multiple production companies in Belgium oppose the show being given a €2.5 million government grant, and have asked for that support to be suspended. An investigation is now underway.

Roman Polanski's musical masterpiece TANZ DER VAMPIRE is now playing at the Ronacher.

Today, following this week's sold out run of GLEE: LIVE! At Radio City Music Hall, and in honor of next week's season finale, as well as the just released 4th album of soundtrack songs, we are taking a listen to the four soundtracks of the hit Golden-Globe-winning Fox TV musical dramedy series GLEE starring Broadway veterans Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele, with additional featured performances by Kristin Chenoweth, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris and Idina Menzel.

With music by Steve Margoshes and a libretto and lyrics by Paul Foster, the show features a smoldering solo performance by Bertilla Baker as a woman in love with a considerably younger man.

Today, in honor of the DVD release of Rob Marshall's film version of the 1982 Tony-winning Best Musical NINE, Maury Yeston was gracious and generous enough to grant me a few hours in which I could ask him intimate questions about his life, career and the future of theatre itself. Not one to mince words, Yeston is a veritable font of knowledge and it became clear during the interview that he may be as gifted and talented in his educational and mentorship skills as he is as a two-time Tony-winning composer and lyricist. His stage musicals include two Tony-winning Best Musicals, NINE and TITANIC, as well as: IN THE BEGINNING, GRAND HOTEL, PHANTOM, and the forthcoming DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, as well as a full-length ballet of TOM SAWYER premiering later this year. From the handwritten letter sent by Katharine Hepburn to Frederico Fellini after seeing the workshop of NINE thirty years ago to this very day when NINE hits DVD, we will take a look at this magnanimous maestro's starry career in this inaugural InDepth InterView. It almost seems too easy to take a jab at this week's episode of GLEE through its episode title, ‘Bad Reputation.' Given the absolute disparity of quality between the episode last week and this one, however, I can't help but go for it: the writing this week could give the popular series a really bad rep.

The German Music Authors' Awards will honor lyricist and librettist Michael Kunze, presented on April 22 at the Axica building in Berlin. Kunze has worked extensively translating Broadway musicals, as well as the composer for Elisabeth, Tanz der Vampire, and Mozart!

One of my most cherished theatrical memories is seeing DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES in previews starring an unbelievably talented and brand-new talent named Mandy Gonzalez who has since gone to star in IN THE HEIGHTS, and just this week took the lead role of Elphaba in WICKED...

'THE 12', an original rock musical written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Robert Schenkkan, with music, lyrics, and story concept by award winning composer, Neil Berg made its world premiere at Riverspace in Nyack, NY, from March 19 - 21, 2010 before opening the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, April 1st in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Boyzone and Westlife performed the number one single 'No Matter What', originally seen in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman's WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND at a tribute concert to Gately.

Full casting has been announced for Riverspace's upcoming production of Neil Berg's THE 12. The cast will include Ron Bohmer (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Ragtime) as 'Peter,' Jeremey Kushnier (Rent, Footloose) as 'Thomas,' Lawrence Clayton (Dreamgirls, The Civil War) as 'Matthew,' and Sean Jenness (The Civil War, Doug Flutie Band) as 'Bart.'

This week we are taking a look at the just-released cast album of the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical sequel, LOVE NEVER DIES, which has proven to be among many phans and theatre fans, in a word, divisive. Be sure to check out last week's Phantom Round-Up for a rundown of the original PHANTOM OF THE OPERA as it stands on disc if only because it is beneficial to have at least a tertiary knowledge of that show‘s score in order to fully appreciate the music here... And what rich, rapturous music it is!
